Hi All,

I know I haven't been too active on PSK31 lately, but the middle of this month marks 20 years since I worked enough stations to earn my 070 number.  I was living in Jacksonville, FL at the time, and as fate has it, I will be sailing from Freeport, Bahamas to my old stomping grounds of Jacksonville on March 16th, arriving on the 17th.

Since the proverbial stars seem to be aligning, I will be operating 20M PSK31 as N1ZZZ/MM while I am underway the afternoon and evening of the 16th as my duties allow.  I expect to have good coverage into the US East Coast, mid-west, and perhaps western EU.

Hopefully I will be able to get in some 070'ers logs and help some people in their quest to join the LONP.

Hi MIlt,

Send me your text info to my call at arrl.net and I will send a text when hitting grids that you need.  Propagation seems to be getting better to the West Coast so we may be able to make some contacts.  The xyl is already planning a trip to Ft Worth for gymnastics and we may try to hit a few less populated grids in TX and OK.  Probably will be trying EL59 again.

Hi Ral !

God to hear from you !

Congrats on working Jukka !   Glad to hear you worked him .  Jukka QSLed via Eqsl minutes after our QSO.   He'll also QSL via bureau or direct if anyone needs a card.

That was a big thrill on 40m because getting into Mediterrean area is rough from Illinois... at least for me.   Looks like the old Alpha-Delta dual sloper is working.

Dick,
Thanks.
I'm just starting to pay attention to the grid chase, so, if you'll just post when you're on the road again, I'm almost guaranteed to need the grid, ya know?

Nothing heard today, either. Just “fired it up”  I just tried a few CQ’s on FT-8     28.074MHz and nothing seen nor heard.  Cycle 25… not quite here…

Re: CQ"n on 17m

Hi John,
I think that depends.
My radio says, 18.098.00.
I use MixW, which would put 18.098.00 at the far left edge of my waterfall.
If I say I'm at 18.098, + 1000, that would put my x-mit signal at 18.099.00. You are correct with that.
I have macro's for moving around quickly, and accurately.
+500 = <ALIGN500>
+1000 = <ALIGN1000> , etc etc up to +3000.
I'm not sure about other software programs.
I'm sure our resident expert on nothing will chime in.
Milt.

Guess I should have said 18097.100 Khz.   Which brings up a question.  When someone says they are on 18.097, do they mean on the waterfall frequency or the radio frequency?  If the radio is at 18.097, the center of the waterfall is going to be 18.097 Mhz plus 1500 Hz which would be 18.098.5 Mhz on the waterfall.  Might be splitting hairs but if the other station is at 18.097 on the waterfall and you're at 18.097 on the rig, you might not see him.  I notice sometimes someone will say they're on 18.097 plus 1500 which makes it clear that the rig is on 18.097 and they are at the 1500 Hz audio spot on the waterfall.

Mostly back in action now

Spent a bit of time in today's relatively nice weather removing bum remote coax switch from tower and took it inside for repair/testing. Switch is 5 ft. at base of tower because I'm not climging 40 feet up any more.

Troubleshooting revealed that the relay #3 I thought was bad had "moved" to relay #2 - haunted switch ???  Buttoned it all up and installed it on tower again hooked up all but one antenna and it seems to work like it used to.

Think this summer/fall will have lots of antenna work for me. would like to replace short 28 ft. vertical with the 43 ft. one acquired a couple years ago.  Will need to do some major pipe work for that.

Will try to be on the air more this next few weeks in prep for St Pat's Day contest....

Sorry guys, I have been out of it for a couple of days. Yeah I expire 2024 right now.

I will be in EM95. I will be bringing down the FT817 and running QRP. I do not think I will have time to get out on a SOTA activation this time.  I am leaving around the 18th and will be south for 3 weeks.

Re: CQ"n on 17m

I couldn't hear or see  Jeff or Milt but had a good contact with a station in Colorado Springs.  We were 30 to 35 dB to each other, both  running 30 watts so there is something out there.  He was at 18097.10 waterfall freq.
