Hi John,

I haven't worked psk on 17 meters yet so I'll join you on that band if I'm around the radio.  What frequencies do you like to hang out on 17 meters?  The club website has 18100 for the 17 meter band.  I believe this has been taken over by FT8.

Elk came through my property and one panicked and got stuck in the feedline going up to my dipole.  It tore the dipole apart .. one side is stuck up 50 ft in a tree that maybe someone in a few hundred years will find ... I also think the feedline (100ft of LMR400) broke. Got a quick hamstick up but I will be out for a bit :(

You know Rick, they call that area the "Cajun Atlantis" and after being there during a heavy rain storm I can see why NOLA has trouble during a hurricane. I guess we will see what happens.  Regional competitions are now selling tickets and since its in TX who knows what will happen as long as there is power, hi hi.

Does anyone need EL94, that covers the FL keys, we are heading to Key West the end of the month.  Wanderlust has hit the xyl bad, now that we are vaccinated.

Yep, I did use it with a lightweight bluetooth keyboard sometimes. That's a bit better.  I don't backpack portable.  I'm more of a picnic table operator.  Even work from the campervan a lot when it's not dry or warm outside.  Fair weather ham, that I am.

Hi Dave,

Yes, I agree with you on trying to use DroidPsk on a phone.  I have tried it on a tablet which worked fairly well.  I picked up a bluetooth keyboard and mouse for my tablet so it was like using a computer.  A couple of years ago, I change over to an ASUS small laptop with a SSD and that is all I use now for my radio computer.  Works fine in the car and for portable use.  Also started using the IC7100 for portable use, since with the deep cycle battery I can push out full power.  Since my portable efforts don't involve carry thing more than from the car to a picnic table the weight is not a problem, hi hi.  I would not want to backpack the stuff like Eric is doing.

Hi Barry, I saw that the link has been discontinued after I posted the information.  The link its self it just an audio interface, but I does work well with the 817 or the 7100.   Have not been able to get my laptop to work well with it, but don't really need it, since the 7100 has usb connection for CAT and audio.   I think the more important thing is software that will run on a smart phone.

Hi All,

I am trying to send my grid more regularly now that people care more.  I used to only record it when I was working 6M, but as was mentioned above, people are more interested in grid chasing, even on HF.

I haven't been on PSK31 too much, but will try to be on a bit more.  I will make a special effort to be on the evening of March 17th on 20M as we transit between Freeport, Bahamas and Jacksonville, FL.  I expect to be able to work many people in the Eastern US that evening.

I've had fun with my FT817 with a WolphiLink to my Galaxy Android phone using a magloop antenna on a couple of expeditions in the past.  It's mostly trading macros due to the small keyboard and fat fingers.

I'm now using an 857 with laptop and SignaLink USB to a inverted vee dipole from a 33 ft camo pole mast or just hung from trees.  Any portable op is a good op.

Good decision Dick.  From what I can see, lots of EL59 kind of falls in that "below the levee" category.  Not a good place to be with heavy rains.  Hope the NCAA Gymnastics come together so you can make the trip.  Not just for EL59, but I know both you and Kathy enjoy collegiate gymnastics and have followed them for sometime.

We decided not to activate EL59 because of bad weather.  Last time we were there and it rained the streets flooded.  Looks like the next opportunity will be in April if the NCAA Gymnastics Championships allow spectators.  Its in Ft Worth and we will probably travel back along the TX/LA coast.

Karl,

Great idea!  I've been reluctant to try CW on a summit because of my poor CW skills.  I didn't want to face a machine gun pileup.  PSK via the paddles might be the best way to start.

Thank you!

I have used my KX2 for PSK31 during POTA activations. You “type” with CW using the built in keyer, and you read the decoded signal on the LCD display. That is probably one of the smallest solutions.

Yes, I'm sorry I missed the email completely. The uBITX is a little inexpensive 160-10m easy to assemble kit with full CAT.  The computer interface makes it a perfect digital rig.

There's a definite art to working CW with a 2 kc bandwidth on receive. There were mods to add RIT, but with that bandwidth, you can't move from anybody, ya know?
