Re: Winter Field Day Logging

Can we "etch this in stone" as what's entered in all contests where we submit a club entry?
ARRL, etc?

Remember Amazon Dash? The little buttons that you would post next to your appliances? Push the "Tide" button next to your washer and it reorders laundry detergent. Push the Ziploc button in the closet and you re-order plastic bags. Push the Quaker Oats button in the pantry and you get more oatmeal.

Amazon doesn't offer these any more (though existing ones will still work). But IoT is real, though sometimes (IMO) silly.

It wouldn't take much logic to add a weight sensor to a Dash button, embed it in the dispenser's roller, and have it place the order automatically when you get below a certain level (not only when it's empty).  If you calibrate your usage, the replacement would arrive (two-day delivery using Prime) right when you run out.

The real trick is getting the delivery guy to actually install it for you! But Amazon has a program called Key by Amazon In-House Delivery that gets you close.

I totally agree with Jerry and Dan.  I used HRD for many years until I looked at how much cpu it was taking up.  Since I mostly used the DM780, I really did not need all of the features provided in HRD, so I switched to Fldigi.  I also second the thought on radios.  We have gone from a half dozen control to so many you need stacked menus to fit everything.  I told the xyl the other day that I probably use about 1/4 of the capability of my IC7410.  I noticed the same thing with her camera.  Since they put a computer in everything now, there seems to be a need to have it do more.

This looks promising.  I'll look at ADIF2CABR closely and see if I can make that work.  But I think going to fldigi and adding the exchange fields will be easier.  Then just create a Cabrillo report.  Next time I'll log the exchange on fldigi rather than QRZ.

I had fun with this contest.  Got a lot of new callsigns in my logbook and some old familiar ones, too.
