Had two new additions to our early morning 24/7 Endorsement meets.  Glad to see Dave KB3RAN and Sam KM6UGZ.  Forty meters seemed to be better for me than 80 meters.  This weeks meet time is 06:45 - 07:15 UTC.  I normally try to start early about 06:30 UTC.  Hope to see you on the waterfall.

IOTA invalid entry on QRZ.com #iota

Loren McCullough - WA3WZR

Just a reminder that IOTA data in QRZ is not always correct, which is why we don't use it to verify the endorsement. Since I have been doing the IOTA endorsement for the club, I have seen some bad entries in QRZ, and that is because the person entering it has no idea what IOTA means and just picks what they think  makes sense, and I get that.  You see an entry for your state and you pick it.

Two of the best examples of an invalid entry are 2 callsigns I ran across from Florida (USA):  I won't call them out here, but they list their IOTA as OC-158  (Florida Islands in the Pacific).

I don't know which logging program picks up the IOTA data from QRZ, but if there is a way to turn that specific field off (doubt it), please do.

Your friendly IOTA endorsement admin,
Loren WA3WZR

podxs.com is not the right website for the club (it’s podxs070.com).

Tonight, later...WEEK TWO starts Monday 10/12 for hour slots 0600Z and 0700Z

6KMU, 9SMR, 5VZG, 4VBM and all interested... It's my intent to be on 40m and/or 75m tonight as long as necessary.
I'll be clicking on traces to see if I can add some Q's to my LONP total.
I'll also have the "Chat" utility running. If y'all see openings on other bands, just tell me know.
Hey, if you need W6QP, 070-1454, for your LONP, let me know and I can work you with that call also.
I'm looking forward to seeing everybody there.

Come on down !! :-)

There have been three of us KK6KMU/Bob in CA, K4VBM/Bob in GA, and me KA5VZG/Alan in TN who have made it every slot so far.
I have been starting on 3.580 between xx30-xx45.  CA-Bob, KK5KMU has been covering 7.070 initially, and GA-Bob, K4VBM has been initially floating
so both 40m and 80m should be covered, check the Chat because we all usually post our intentions.
Usually one of us will spot the trace on the waterfall, if we can't decode, maybe the others can.  If your getting no response post a note on the Chat and
we will make an effort to get you. We can try other bands. I know K4VBM worked a few on 160m last week.  CA-Bob can pick up a lot that the rest of us can't decode
because he is so far west.
Check in and make sure we find you.  It only takes two to make a QSO and we will make sure the right two meet.

Chat room availability

Peter, NN9K #2629

I may have missed a reference to this website and chat room in the past. It is  free and easy to use--http://n8fq.org/sked/index.php?board=fists. Even thought the link indicated FISTS look at the room listing on the right side and you will find a PODXS room and there are a couple of familiar calls that have used it.

For me this style of room is much easier to use so whenever I get the urge to PSK you most likely see me in the room.

Just a thought, back to my straight key!

Milt,

How would I know? After my bedtime. I have no experience in that time-zone.

I think KA5VZG and KK6KMU and the others start on 40M then QSY as needed.

I'm going to give it a try. The T-storms are still on their way here now. Should clear up around 10 p.m. my time.

So, tnx fer the encouragement and I hope to see you tomorrow morning.

I am hoping to get on. I need 3 a.m. (EDT) slots all week long and some 2 a.m.'s along the way.

But, T-Storms coming thru soon. Hopefully expected to clear after 10 p.m. Will need to reconnect my Kluge Inv-L after they pass through.

I had a few extra bonus contacts last night during our 24/7 Endorsement meet. KI7VLV Dave from Washington, KM6UGZ Sam California, and AA2MA Mark from Alabama. All of them were amazed that someone was calling CQ late that night / early tat morning. Also had VK4KLA from Australia answer my call but could not complete the QSO. All things considered a successful 24/7 get together. Hope to see yo tonight from 0645-0715 UTC.

Was a busy weekend

GA - Bob - K4VBM

With all the QSO parties, and the 070 160m contest, it has been a very busy radio weekend for me.
I am also participating in the late night 24/7 "fill-in-the-holes" with KK6KMU, Bob, KA5VZG, and Alan, which has been a lot of fun with some other showing up also making it a fun time except for being tired the next morning hi hi, and tonite we do later slots
(don't worry guys, I am going to force myself to wake back up and get on the radio).

I was in the shack just a little while ago collecting log files so I could start the process of uploading to the myriad of places
they all need to go, and decided to call CQ PSK31 on a totally dead 40m band, and someone came back but I couldn't decode,
so I sent my macro about "No copy PSE increase power if possible", and the next transmission was quite readable
and the other OP said he was already at max power and thanked me for trying.

Well, it turned into a nice rag chew QSO with Jay, WD0EGC, who is a retired researcher still working on some things related to soybean diseases (he told me to Google his name and I could read all about it).  By the way, he was in Fargo, ND, and one
of the newer club members.  We are close to the same age among other things.

This is exactly what I love about ham radio.  I needed ND for PSK31, and it just happens.  Thanks, Jay - looking forward
to some more and longer ragchews.

Don't hesitate to call CQ on a dead band - YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT MAY HAPPEN after the 2nd CQ call . . .

73 all and stay safe,

Bob Hensey
