Art -

Good suggestions. Because of the "close-in" phenomenon, I hope to be on the air earlier than when the band "goes long", just to catch some nearby LONP points.

I'll do my best to stay up late to get the west coast.

Hi Dave and others,
We are at the bottom of the the Solar Cycle. Solar Flux will be 68 and geomagnetic activity light.
As soon as the sun goes down, 40 Meters will quickly stretch out.
If you want to work anyone close, it will be during the daytime.

Out here in Oregon where there is little activity and a hill and mountain to my east, I will fire up at 00 or 01 UTC (5 or 6 pm local PDT).
That way I can catch a few on the west coast and then pray I can get a few of you out East to 06-07 UTC.
40 Meters was excellent during Field Day.
Good luck.

Dave welcome to the club.  Yes pick a start time and it will be a continuous 6 hour time window.  Your six hours must be between 20;00 UTC Saturday July 4 until 20:00 Sunday July 5.  Exchange is Callsign, signal report and state/province/country (SPC).  Your CQ should be CQ 40M Sprint.  The link to the rules is on the PODXS home page.

Your time should be when 40 meters is open for you and your possible contacts.  Look at last years results at  http://hamclubs.info/scorer/   .  I think that is the right site.

Field Day Log uploaded

Paula K7PAX #1739

I uploaded my log for Field Day and credited my 382 points to PODXS 070. Only 16 of my 83 QSOs were PSK31, but I wanted to make sure that our club name made a good showing with ARRL, so I chose PODXS 070 over my other club affiliations to get the credit . . . J

Hi I am new to the club and need a little help.

Do you pick a start time to begin working the contest and run for 6 hours? or do you work as long as you wish and select any 6 hour continuous period from your log for submission?   Also do you include you 070 club number in the exchange?

Thanks
Dave

Re: Can someone help?

Richard Rohrer

For normal operation I just have Fldigi open ACL when I start Fldigi and have it automatically connect to ACL so when I log in Fligi it automatically sends the data to ACL.  Since Fldigi normally does not send the sent or received strings to ACL,  here is how I configure for an 070 contest. I setup a new log in Fldigi for the contest and select generic contest in Fldigi.  I don't connect to my ACL log.  This allows me to see duplicates and setup my exchanges.  I have setup two fields in the in the Other Titles that are SRX_STRING and STX_STRNG, which are the sent and received strings that Fldigi will export.  I participate in the contest and when done export for Fldigi to ACL and I also merge the contest contacts into my main Fldigi log.  Depending on what needs to be sent from the contest log I either copy from ACL to Excel and manipulate the log into the format I want or use one of the programs that allow you to manipulate an adif file.  Looks a little complicated, but it works for me.
If you have more questions send me an email off list at kc3ef at arrl dot net Tom and I will send you screen shots of my setup.

Re: Can someone help?

Loren McCullough - WA3WZR

I log everything manually using ACLog myself for my main log and all 070 contests, using QRZ lookup to fill in what it can.  I have one of the comment fields setup as "SRX" and have it on the main input form, to put in anything not captured in any other field, such as 070 member number.  SRX is used by the contest software for those extra pieces of info.  At the end of the contest, I simply extract the appropriate contacts for upload to the contest checker.

Hope that helps.

If you are using Windows 7 there is a software bridge between FLDIGI and DXLabs Suite.  Its called Fldigi-DXLabs Gateway by N2AMG.  I used it for almost three years and it was very stable.  Problem is the it needs to be rewritten for Windows 10.  N2AMG says he is trying to set aside some time for the rewrite.  I just got a new computer and am using Windows 10.  Some had claimed they could get it working but I didn't even try.  A little difficult to configure.  I like the DXLabs suite so I'm importing adi files from FLDIGI to DX Keeper.  Not very convenient

Sounds like someone with FedEx enjoyed a great rib dinner :)

When I lived near Ft.Worth back in pre-historic times, many times I had to visit family in Austin, I was ordered to bring a few pounds of pork ribs from Angelo's BBQ in Fort Worth.
Angelo's was the first restaurant I ate at (Job interview) in 1978 and one of the last places I ate at when I retired and moved to Arizona (2014).

As long as as you logging program can export adif, you can import it into ACLog.

I like using HRD/DM780 for my digital contacts as it logs automatically and uploads to several sites eQSL, HRD log. However, I like some of the features of ACLog, so I export my digital contacts from HRD and import them into ACLog. I then upload from ACLog to LoTW and confirm contacts from eQSL.

I know this is a PSK club and many folks do not like the JT/FT modes, but for those that do, HRD interfaces quite nicely with WSJT-X both for control of the radio and logging of contacts. Thus, I find the combination of WSJT-X, HRD/DM780 and and ACLog to be very effective. for all modes.

I also use Scotts ACLog for logging.  I use MixW for PSK, when done I just export the QSO's into adif format from MixW, and then Import into ACLog.   I don't use fldigi, but am assuming you can export contacts from its log into adif and import to AcLog.

Extra step, wish that there was an API to interface AcLog with MixW.

Hi Bob and all the others,
QSO's are difficult here at my new QTH.  Thanks Bob for the exchange during Field Day.
and the few others that were out there too.
I had a few more PSK31 numbers than I expected.
I hope a few show up Friday evening/ Saturday morning for the Firecracker event.

Endorsement Congrats!

MONTHLY Endorsement Congrats!

This has been a great period of achievement towards LONP and other Endorsements. With 5 contests and Endorsement Daze #3, great progress has been made in 2020.

LONP - To qualify for LONP, 100 QSOs with fellow members are required. As you are aware, we are struggling with issues on the Endorsement web page that limits our timely approval of Endorsements.

The list below includes those members who have been approved since January 1, 2020:

LONP 070#              CALL               QSOs

428     #2592             KG5OIB           100

429     #2707             AC8NM          100

430     #2590             KE4PWE          150

431     #2662             KI7OIY            100

432     #1227             KB9UMT         100

433     #2653             W4BZM          100

434     #2267             WJ4HCP         100

And those who have submitted logbooks containing 100 or more QSOs since January 1, 2020, but are not yet approved:

TBD     #2618             KD6TR            180

TBD     #2722             N3XL               111

TBD     #2727             K4VBM           102

TBD     #0985             WB4JJJ           102

And those added to the Honor Roll with 500 member QSOs or more:

54        #0853             N3PPH            509

55        #0771             N9VEL             535

56        #1509             KA5VZG          552

57        #1605             K8FER             530

And then there are the Super Achievers with more than 1,000 member QSOs:

1          #0025             W3HF             1650

2          #0777             NO8R             1521

3          #0815             K8TOM           1258

4          #0454             N9AVY            1011

WTW – Work The World - One of our toughest Endorsements. It requires 2246 specific call sign suffix letters to spell out Country names around the world:

#2241             N5SLY             2246   (Got that last letter, “i” during TDW)

#0354             W7PAQ          2212  (Needs 13 “i” and  21 “n” to complete)

TRI-WARC - And how about those hardy souls, K4VBM and N5SLY grabbing TRI-WARC under these pitiful propagation conditions?
They did an excellent job of using the Endorsement Daze #3 event to do it.

Congratulations to all!

Many more Endorsements were earned, far too many to list. But we applaud the continuing efforts of all to reach for the sky!!

Keep up the good work!

Stan
