KG5OIB on 17m

John Hendry KG5OIB

Tried to tune 12 meters... just can't get it to tune on this antenna.   :-(
But I'm gonna sit on 17 meters for a little while.

I also am to my best on WARC + 20. Ten mins each then move.
I am now nine hrs into this and have three contacts.
At that rate I may take a break for lunch and not worry about what I missed.

N6MG , 070-650, (me) already has the Tri-band sticker from "back in the day".
W6QP, 070-1454, (my club), according to our website has worked the required band totals, but is not listed as a recipient of the Tri-Band sticker.
I'll be using W6QP for this "Operating Event" to hand out the LONP # and see if I can add anything to everybody's various totals.

Noise Level Really high

I haven't seen the noise level this high in some time.  Only two contacts all morning.  Still trying.

Bo,

BPSK31 is the normal mode we use.  Have your rig set on Upperside band USB.

Found good info on Wikipedia and the 'official' psk page at http://aintel.bi.ehu.es/psk31.html

Well, thanks Stan, for the nice QSO on 17m.
I had to take a break because my daughter was getting married in the front yard at 10:30 am eastern due to COVID 19 -
I have to give her credit for sticking it out and making due with the front yard instead of all the other prep that got cancelled.  Wedding went off very nicely, and immediate family present enjoyed cupcakes and got some pictures for posterity regarding the pandemic wedding ceremony! :)  Yes, I had to get on the radio just before because I was just in the way  hi hi. :)

All picked up and put away, and time to head out to the radio again, so I will be on 17, 30, and 12m this afternoon searching for some QSO partners - I am now at 96 for LONP and hope to complete it this weekend propagation gods willing . . . .

Re: Nada at 6AM and now. On 10.140 for a bit now

Bo W4GHV

A little puzzled. Getting spotted on WSPRwatch with my 100W but neither my EFHW or G5RV are doing the trick. No beams allowed here.

Its educational and entertaining tinkering with the technology so I'll be on and off during the period. posting a note here when I'm on.

I gotta start using METERS to refer to the bands. Learning new stuff is hard for this 80 year old.

The CW contest exchange is your age and I'm 'winning' in that category, with no one below 55 seen so far. :)

W4ELP and DM780

Steve VA3FLF/KM4FLF

Any HRD users tried the W4ELP to interface with N3FJP logging?  I found this program yesterday and am having a terrible time getting it to run. I am going to run N3FJP for FD but wanted to use DM780 for my PSK program.

Re: Got ONE on 10 only 2 more to go.

One more thought. How about a link to info on how the PSK signal looks or its makeup.
I'm seeing one constant freq sine wave and a smaller on changing. No freq SHIFTING noted.
Thanks

FYI  KC2RGW K8SA  KG5OIB AND N5SLY spotted here in NC on WSPRwatch
10MHz 10 meters this old timer gets them mixed up.
On 10.140 MHz a while longer.
The thought of copying 35WPM CW in the contest scares me.
