Not a bad day.
Spent 6 1/2 hrs with some breaks and made 33 psk contacts.
Might be the best PSK day I have had in years.

MN Grids

Rick - N7WE

The MN QSO Party is on today and I still need 4 more grids to complete MN.  I was excited to work AC0DH/P on 40m from EN48.  That is way up and out on the NE corner of MN and a grid I've never worked.  Then I checked the Awards Progress Scorer only to find out EN48 is one of the excluded grids since it is almost entirely in Canada.  Oh well, there are some other stations in MN that indicated they would be working digital today.  But I already have the grids they will be operating from.  Bummer!  This chasing grids gets really tough.

ALERT - 366 Chasers – FEBRUARY

Time to really focus on grabbing that illusive Leap Year Endorsement (February 29).

February 29th – Leap Day – only happens once every 4 years. And there is an Endorsement specifically for logging a QSO on Leap Day. It was first offered in 2016 and 198 members earned it. This is the first chance since then to add it to your accomplishments.

That one date is holding back many from the coveted 366 Award.

Of our 2,730 members, only 44 have achieved 366.

These 7 folks need ONLY February 29 to complete Leap Year and 366 Endorsements:

WM4B,

M5PLY,

SA7BXU,

F8BFU,

WB8YXF,

KE0GHU,

K4ARE

Many, many folks need 2/29, and this is your last chance for another 4 years to grab it. It occurs on a Saturday (UTC) this year and everyone should look for a chance to get on and make that contact.

To see what dates you need for 366, upload your full log and check the "Online Endorsement Checker". In the "In Progress" section, click on "Target" for the 360 category and a list of needed dates will show. If you have a problem seeing that, please just let me know.

This will also give a big boost to the LONP chasers! Congrats to Rick, KA7OIY who uploaded the necessary 100 member QSO’s on January 26th to qualify for LONP. Good job!!

The next PODXS 070 Event is the Valentine Sprint, starting Thursday evening, February 13 @ 7:00 p.m. EST. But that's not all.  The 365 Endorsement is awarded for logging a QSO on every day of the calendar year.  So far, 51 members have earned that endorsement.  But add a Leap Day Endorsement and you qualify for the 366 Endorsement!  Right now, 45 people hold that honor.  So 51 people will be looking to join that illustrious group on Leap Day!

Still more, complete the 24/7 (168) Endorsement (30 members have so far), the 365 Endorsement, and Leap Year, and you qualify for the Clock and Calendar Endorsement!  That requires logging a QSO in each of the 168 different hour time slots that make up a week, logging a QSO in each day of the calendar year, and logging a QSO on Leap Day.  It is quite an achievement!

To date, only 20 of our 2730 members have earned the Clock and Calendar Endorsement.  It is one of the most difficult to earn, demanding LOTS of on air time, dedication, perseverance, late night hours, coffee, and if you miss Leap Day this February 29th, at least 4 more years!

I want to thank the father of 365, 366, and Clock and Calendar, Rick, N7WE for inventing this enticing endorsement challenge!

Plan to be on air on Leap Day!

You won't find anything on the contest calendar for this "special event"  that only occurs every four years :) It's leap day, and for those of us trying to fill in our calendar, it's an important day. Hope that explains what's going on. Chances are the bands will be busy with PSK31 signals on that day. I will be there for sure.

I was refering to what happens on Feb. 29th, but I got the gist now.
When I first got my tech+ back in 1984, I vowed to make a contact a day on CW and I did that for more than ten years, usually early in the morning.  Nowadays, I get on the air to relax, mostly PSK31.
 Thanks all for the info,
Lauri, N1UKX
