Re: DOUBLEHEADER SPRINT = Where is everybody?!
I got on for a couple of hours Friday night, and worked a few (very few) contacts. Couldn't get on at all on Saturday, and now working 40m now. Made 1 contact so far.
Unfortunately, I have no way to put out an 80 meter or 160 meter antenna, so I'm stuck on 40. But at least I'm finally able to participate in a contest. Double Header Side Benefit!
Last night while I was waiting for the second day window to open for the Triple Play Double Header, I opened PSK Reporter to have a look at what was going on on 40m. To my surprise, it showed a N1 operating from DN60, which is a grid I've been looking for for quite some time. Always leery of calls that show up wildly outside their ARRL call zone without a /M or /P, I plugged the call into QRZ and sure enough...Vermont location. Oh well, not unusual. But on an off chance, I went ahead and answered his CQ. Turns out he was in Steamboat Springs, Colorado which IS in DN60 and he gave me a report with both QTH and Locator! Now in the log and in the bank! It won't count towards Double Header points as it was outside my window, but I almost blew it off and didn't answer his CQ.
Last night's Double Header was kind of slow for me. 80m was much better with lots less static, but on 40m I couldn't see many new ones. And although others reported luck on 160m, I didn't put up a 160 antenna for this go-round. Just too old and too tired, even though I wouldn't have had to trudge through snow to do it! Hi hi. Hopefully tonight a whole bunch who haven't been able to get on yet will get some free time in all the Christmas rush and be able to join in! Lots of fun for all. Hope to see you on the waterfall tonight! REMEMBER - this is the last PSK31 contest of the decade! -- Rick - N7WE 070 - #1602

Being a day late and a dollar short ( I only have
4hrs left for today) has made me re think on how to work the Sprint Contest If my
Calculations are right I have from Now 2000 Sat until 0000 Mon If I want to work 160M as well as 40 and 80 then
I will have to use my Sun 6hr block in between 0000 to 0900 due to the fact that 160M is
a night time band Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong Chris N9JCA 73 LONP 165 PODXS 797
