070 Club Recommended PSK31 Frequencies

The introduction of FT8 digital mode, particularly in the 17m band, has made it necessary to reevaluate our recommended frequencies for 070 Club PSK31 activities. Here are our recommendations as of March 30, 2019.

160m 1.807 MHz

80m 3.580 MHz

40m 7.070 MHz

30m 10.140 MHz

20m 14.070 MHz

17m 18.097 MHz

15m 21.070 MHz

12m 24.920 MHz

10m 28.120 MHz

6m 50.290 MHz

Please note: Operating frequencies and emission type are controlled by both the ITU and the regulatory agencies of the Country of operation. Permitted frequencies for PSK31 mode may vary from those listed above. Always make sure your operation conforms to the regulations for the location from which you are operating!

FT-4's introduction is just going to exacerbate things, I'm afraid. It may be that we have to co-exist among them for now, as there's just not much room on 30m. bandplans.com<https://nam05.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bandplans.com%2Findex.php%3Fband%3D30&data=02%7C01%7C%7C243b261dadf14dc0039d08d6ce775d64%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636923409388500420&sdata=ITpcHEoGZgHuOHrsJEi2WfmtW4QDwDcFGh2Nt01bMg8%3D&reserved=0> suggests (in addition to 10.140 for PSK-31) 10.130-10.132.5 for PSK-31, so maybe give that a try.

I'm not sure why they even have designated frequencies on WARC bands considering that it's specifically designed as a mode for contesting, at least from my understanding.

Wherever else you try, just be sure to communicate and coordinate your frequency with others on the reflector in order to maximize the odds of finding a partner at a "new home" on the band.

Hope that helps...

I'll give it a try at  around 15:00Z on Saturday.  Like everyone says, 17 has been trashed by FT8 and looks like WSPR just above that.  How about going down to 18.097 VFO frequency?
Would also like to know a suggested frequency for 30 mtrs because that can be a great band.

I see most activity on the 20 and 40 meter bands (I don't have 80 or 160 antenna capability at present).   But I rarely see anything on 15, 17, or 30.
With the sunspot minimum, 10 and 12 are still very iffy, but 15 seems to be getting better along with 17.

Would anyone be interested in setting up a designated time to move over to some of the other bands to get some QSOs?

How about tomorrow, Saturday, November 2 at  15:00Z, we try to work on 17 meters?

Thoughts?

TRIPLE PLAY LOW BAND SPRINT - HEADS UP!

stan W9SMR

The Ø7Ø Club TRIPLE PLAY LOW BAND SPRINT is just 1 week away -

Saturday, November 9 - 0000 UTC (Friday, Nov. 8 - 7:00 p.m. EST * )

to Monday, November 11 - 0000 UTC (Sunday, Nov. 10 - 7:00 p.m. EST * )

* Don’t forget to set your clocks back Saturday nite, Nov. 3rd

Sprint Rules – Work a 6 hour block each UTC Date. For Scoring, your 6 hour block will start with the hour you select on the Scoring page and continue for the next 6 hours. You may have only one “Block” or “Block Portion” on a given date.

Work each station once per band. (Same station, same band, different day is a dupe!)

Open to all licensed radio amateurs. Using 40M, 80M and 160M.

For Rules and detailsClick HereTriple Play Rules

Frequencies
: - 1.807 / 1.838 MHz (Europe). 3.580, 7.070 / 7.035 (Europe) Mhz

4 Power Categories
:

QRP < 5 W
Low < 25 W
Medium < 50 W
High < 100 W

Exchange:
Callsign,  RST  and  State/Province/Country (SPC)    eg: “W9SMR  599  IN”

Call: “CQ 070 Sprint”

All entry logs
must be received within 1 week after the event ends.

This event will again test your ingenuity and stealthy antenna talents. But with 3 bands to choose from, you can optimize your luck with propagation.

And it will again be worth pursuing, in order to grab that Top Band Endorsement Sticker with 20 QSOS on 160M. And 160M QSOs count as 3 points each. Only 43 of our 2,706 members have earned the Top Band Sticker.

This is one of our most popular contests. Last year, 29 logs were submitted.

Let’s see if we can beat that turnout.

In DM90 I worked Van, WA2PCN; Stan, W9SMR; Bill, N4GBK; Jerry, N9AVY, and Randy, KA8ZNF.  Stan must have rotated the house since his signal was much stronger than the day before.

Did not operate at all on 10/31, and spent most of the time bird watching.  We are now in Lake Charles, LA and will be heading to EL39 for more bird watching.  If anyone needs that grid please let me know, as I will not be on the air all the time while in the grid.  I will try calling any station that needs the grid, rather than general calls.

On Saturday we will go into EL59 for a brief activation.  If you need this grid let me know, but not N7WE as I know he need this.  Also Rick, we did not see the Marfa Lights, but we did see the Mafra Blimp.  Looks like the one that escaped from Aberdeen Proving Grounds a couple of years ago.

ALERT - 366 Chasers - NOVEMBER

ALERT - 366 Chasers - NOVEMBER

Several 366 Award
chasing folks need some QSOs on November dates coming up fast.

If you see these folks on the air, be sure to give them a call and make their DAY.

Total days needed (#).

R6KEE, Yuri (2) – 11/26

VA3TPS, Steve (4) – 11/10, 11/11

Congrats to Delos, NO8R and John, KC3FL who completed their 366 by picking up needed October dates.  Mike, KE0GHU picked off his October date and now needs only 2/29 to complete 366. He was also the sole winner of the JOTA Enabler Sticker in this, its inaugural year.

Karl, K5KHK grabbed his October date and now needs just 3 August dates in addition to 2/29.

Congrats also to Paul, N1KRC, who completed his Clock and Calendar. This award requires not only the 366, but also to have completed his 24/7 by operating in all 168 day-of-the-week hourly slots. A mere 20 members have achieved this very challenging award.

Speaking of Leap Day, 6 members need only 2/29: F8BFU, M5PLY, SA7BXU, WM4B, WB8YXF and KE0GHU. No doubt, lots of other folks need the infamous Leap Day, also!

Of our 2,709 members, only 43 have achieved 366.

To see what dates you need, upload your full log and check the "Online Endorsement Checker". In the "In Progress" section, click on "Target" for the 360 category and a list of needed dates will show. If you have a problem seeing that, please just let me know.

I have listed only the folks who are getting very close (within 20 dates). I am sure there are many more who need November dates, also. Let’s make 366 happen for as many as you can.

73,

Stan
