In DM90 I worked Van, WA2PCN; Stan, W9SMR; Bill, N4GBK; Jerry, N9AVY, and Randy, KA8ZNF.  Stan must have rotated the house since his signal was much stronger than the day before.

Did not operate at all on 10/31, and spent most of the time bird watching.  We are now in Lake Charles, LA and will be heading to EL39 for more bird watching.  If anyone needs that grid please let me know, as I will not be on the air all the time while in the grid.  I will try calling any station that needs the grid, rather than general calls.

On Saturday we will go into EL59 for a brief activation.  If you need this grid let me know, but not N7WE as I know he need this.  Also Rick, we did not see the Marfa Lights, but we did see the Mafra Blimp.  Looks like the one that escaped from Aberdeen Proving Grounds a couple of years ago.

ALERT - 366 Chasers - NOVEMBER

stan W9SMR

ALERT - 366 Chasers - NOVEMBER

Several 366 Award
chasing folks need some QSOs on November dates coming up fast.

If you see these folks on the air, be sure to give them a call and make their DAY.

Total days needed (#).

R6KEE, Yuri (2) – 11/26

VA3TPS, Steve (4) – 11/10, 11/11

Congrats to Delos, NO8R and John, KC3FL who completed their 366 by picking up needed October dates.  Mike, KE0GHU picked off his October date and now needs only 2/29 to complete 366. He was also the sole winner of the JOTA Enabler Sticker in this, its inaugural year.

Karl, K5KHK grabbed his October date and now needs just 3 August dates in addition to 2/29.

Congrats also to Paul, N1KRC, who completed his Clock and Calendar. This award requires not only the 366, but also to have completed his 24/7 by operating in all 168 day-of-the-week hourly slots. A mere 20 members have achieved this very challenging award.

Speaking of Leap Day, 6 members need only 2/29: F8BFU, M5PLY, SA7BXU, WM4B, WB8YXF and KE0GHU. No doubt, lots of other folks need the infamous Leap Day, also!

Of our 2,709 members, only 43 have achieved 366.

To see what dates you need, upload your full log and check the "Online Endorsement Checker". In the "In Progress" section, click on "Target" for the 360 category and a list of needed dates will show. If you have a problem seeing that, please just let me know.

I have listed only the folks who are getting very close (within 20 dates). I am sure there are many more who need November dates, also. Let’s make 366 happen for as many as you can.

73,

Stan

Re: Dm90

Got Dick after Stan & Bill worked him, but could not hear either of them here in IL.  WA2PCN was 599 , but then dropped into noise at end of QSO.   Propagation seems to be shifting around a bit.

TU Dick for QSO !

Looking forward to better conditions next time.

Good morning Dick -
Don't need any of today's grids, and it is a good thing as I have commitments this afternoon that will take me out of the shack.  But I'll look for you when I get back.  Very good signals yesterday.  You had a pipe into central Florida!  Sure hope you can make EL59 as that is the one grid I need to complete Lousiana!  Travel safe and enjoy.  Pass my thanks to pilot extraordinary Kathy!

The grid EL89 in my report should be DL89.  Stan pointed this out to me.

Dick,

Yep, I traded my Hex at 50 feet for Dipoles-in-the-attic-under-the-red-tile-roof in order to get 80 degree WX instead of 30 degree WX. Life is a compromise, I guess. We arrived back in Sarasota on Oct 8, a week before our traditional mid-October date.

Really appreciate getting DM89 (not EL89, that's where I live?) this afternoon. Too bad I had that dentist app't this morning and missed DM70. Sorry about the low signal. Tried to rotate the attic, but no-go.

I will be looking for you in DM90. The others I have. I should be available all day to follow along.

73 es stay safe as you continue your homeward trek.

Started out in DM70 and worked N9AVY, KC4OBB, N7WE, and W0LDO.  In DM80 worked KC3FL, N7WE, W8DWH, and K8MGA.  For EL89 worked N7WE, N8JLM, KN4YGL, and W9SMR.

I worked Jerry off the back of his beam, which I guess accounted for his signal being not a strong as usual.  Saw Stan calling me, and tried calling him several times and we finally made contact.  Stan, I thought you were still in the mid-West not in FL.

I don't think tomorrows grids are really special, but will be going thru DM90, EM00, EL09, EL19, and EL29.  Friday we will be in EL39 and EM30.  On Saturday if the weather is nice we will try to get EL59 again for those that missed last go around.

Let me know if you need any specific grid, so I can be on the lookout for you.

RESULTS – PODXS 070 - JOTA STICKERS

The results are in! Thanks to everyone who participated and sent me their report of contacts with JOTA stations. Several reported having very interesting chats with Scouts at those stations.

Below find the results for the Participant and Enabler Stickers:

1)  JOTA Participant for those who get on air and make a contact with a JOTA station.

Dave

KC3FL

John

KE0GHU

Mike

The JOTA is a Worldwide Scouting event. Our members reported JOTA contacts from as far away as Azores, Luxembourg, Scotland, Sweden and Ontario, Canada.

2) JOTA Enabler for those who, working with a troop, set up a station, oversee operation, and "enable" PSK31 JOTA contacts for scouts.

Only one JOTA Enabler report was received from Mike, KE0GHU.

Pictured above is Mike, KE0GHU (070 #2415) and son, Thomas, KE0OCA, (Tech).

Mike provided 8 JOTA contacts as KE0GHU and two contacts as N0ISH from Camp Naish, Bonner Springs, KS. He also provided opportunities with 20M SSB, 2M FM repeaters, Fox Hunting and 6M Simplex using a Vietnam era PRC-77 for the Scouts.

As we currently do not have a “Sticker Boss”, It may take a while to get the Stickers in the mail. But eventually, you’ll get yours.

P.S.: If you have been considering taking the job of  Director - Mailing and Distribution  (Sticker Boss) after John, KE4JB has left this post, now would be an easy entry point for that 070 support role. Send me your questions!
