We are heading from Van Horn, TX down to Big Bend and then back up to Ft Stockton, TX.  Grids are DM70, DM80, & DL89.  I will post when we are leaving the motel and if I have coverage email and/or text when we are getting into grids.  Anyone needed these grids would you please send me a reminder so I can call you specifically.

Correct. I don't think a minivan is the right vehicle for that grid, hi hi.

So I'm taking that as "der is no way!" on DL88 - hi hi!  I'll be looking for you!

Rick, I agree with you on all of the bells and whistles in new cars.  Seems like drivers should be paying attention to the road.  The only feature we have found interesting is the park assist.  Our 2012 Ford Escape was equipped with it and it would put the car in to a space with no problem.

Look for me tomorrow in Big Bend.

That’s why I bought a 2008 van this summer without all those doodads.

This will probably be the last vehicle I buy…  I think.

I prefer PSK over all the FT modes and I never have used them.

WARNING!  - I'm grumpy today!

I will only buy a used car - because I don't want Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Centering Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, or Self-Parking.  Tried them, don't like them.  When I can't pay attention enough to stay in my lane, step on the brake when the car in front slows, look behind me before backing, or parallel park, I'll turn in my driver's license.  I like to DRIVE!

I use PSK31 for the same reason.  You should use whatever you like.

There are days I see lots of PSK stations, and days I see NO ONE!
But I still prefer PSK to all modes of HF.
I do defect over to FT8 once in a while just to see if it still works.
It is always full of quickies.
During the Chase I did use the text function to chat more with some stations, but most don't care to.
FT8 is good for grid/county chasers and some contest.  Glad we have the different modes.
But PSK is my focus.  HI HI
Interesting numbers there though Jerry, thanks for sharing.
Now we need to keep encouraging others to get on PSK and ragchew!

Hi yep, I have moved from psk to ft8 mainly due to the software, I use wxjt all included with logging and  using grid mapper it all connects, now if it  included psk i would use that mode like a shot

Re: KC3EF Titan Missile Museum Operation

Thanks for the Q from the Titan Missile Museum Dick.  An "all time new one" for me!  I've worked all the grids on your list for today, but will still be looking for you.  Enjoy Van Horn and say Hi! to the Marfa LIghts for me if you pass that way.  We looked but never saw them.  Travel safe.

After a nice tour of the missile site I got my briefing and signed the log to use the HF discone.  Made 10 contacts on PSK31 and worked KM4TM, N9AVY, N7WE, K7GZP/7, W7PFB, W7WIA, W4ZBM, K5YR, KC3EF,  and K8TOM.  Needed to stop as did not want to run down the car battery.  The antenna is really neat and Kathy is took several pictures of the operation and is going to produce a QSL cert that I will email to all that I worked.

Tomorrow we are heading for Van Horn, TX  on I10 and will be going thru grids DM52, DM62, DM61 & DM71.  The next day we will be heading for Big Bend, TX and I will let everyone know what grid and when we will be their.

Looked again and I can’t see him. My longwire stealth antenna isn’t cutting it for me. I will keep an eye on it though. If it were 40 meters or 15 meters I could maybe get him on my hamstick dipole.
