Where are all the new members ?

Jerry N9AVY

Seems like 070 club has added a few new members in past few months, but I’ve only worked a few.

If you haven’t worked me , let me know where to find you on the bands and we can maybe get a contact or 2.

Thanks.

REPORTS DUE - JOTA PARTICIPATION STICKER

REPORTS DUE - JOTA PARTICIPATION STICKER

As an acknowledgement of your participation in the JOTA on October 18 - 20, 2019,

PODXS 070 Club offers JOTA Participation and Enabler Stickers.

Before October 27th, send your email to: ROBINSTAN (at) HOTMAIL.COM as follows:

On the Subject Line, state “JOTA Sticker”.
In the body state the following:
1) Your Call
2) The number of completed JOTA contacts
3) State your role if claiming to be a JOTA Enabler

There will be two different Stickers offered to 070 members.

1)  JOTA Participant for those who get on air and make a contact with a JOTA station.

2) JOTA Enabler for those who, working with a troop, set up a station, oversee operation, and "enable" PSK31 JOTA contacts for scouts.

A JOTA Enabler may also claim JOTA Participant if they make a PSK31 contact with another JOTA station.

So far, I have received JOTA Participant reports from: N9AVY, NO8R, KC3FL, KB3RAN, N7WE and KE0GHU. Only one JOTA Enabler report was received from Mike, KE0GHU.

We will use the honor system - just like the Field Day Sticker - to determine eligibility for both endorsements as it greatly simplifies the process of awarding stickers.  If you say you participated, you participated! Please DO NOT send or attach your log.

As we currently do not have a “Sticker Boss”, It may take a while to get the Stickers in the mail. But eventually, you’ll get yours.

P.S.: If you have been considering taking the job of  Director - Mailing and Distribution  (Sticker Boss) after John, KE4JB has left this post, now would be an easy entry point for that 070 support role. Send me your questions!

Don't need DM51, but I'll be looking for you! I have never worked someone from the Titan site.  Hope it will be you.

DM51 & Titan Missile Museum

Richard Rohrer

We probably won't be leaving the timeshare until around 1600 UTC and it will be about 2 1/2 to 3 hours to get into the grid.  So probably around 1900 UTC.  I will post and text when we are getting near.

Also, Sunday will be the day we are going to the Titan Missile Museum.  Probably around 2000 UTC if we have access to the big antenna.  Will probably make some calls on psk31 and RTTY and then switch to SSB for a few.

Well today's effort for DM32 worked pretty well. Worked all of the usual suspects that wanted the grid and a couple of others. DM31 did not go as good. Only worked a couple of stations on PSK31. Did work Hawaii and Japan on FT8, so the band was open to the West I guess. Did not see any East coast stations on psk31, Jerry report that he could copy me 599 working the WA2 station in CO.

If it looks like we may be in DM41 and DM51 probably during the weekend.

Sometimes prop is weird.   Recall crossing from Wisconsin at LaCrosse into Minnesota over the Mississippi River.  Band was hopping with signals, but when I got into MN (a mere 7 miles or so) the band was dfeader than a door nail.  That was in better days of propagation several years ago.

Jerry-
Propagation is weird isn't it?  Earlier Dick was solid into central Florida, but I saw you work hard to get him in the log.  Now you've got him 599 and I have narry a trace here.  One thing I learned when we were on the road, propagation WILL vary!  Mile by mile and minute by minute!  You can take that one to the bank.

Patience payed off. Finally copied Dick well enough to call him and luckily he saw me after several tries.

Problem aggravated by strong signals, some within 50 Hz. But we made it. DM32 in the log!!

Dick is in DM32 at 1900 UTC. Lower in freq than usual...about 14.071.020. Good signal into central Florida.
