Bonus Stations Needed - Three Day Weekend 2019

Requesting Bonus Stations for Three Day Weekend Contest for 2019

It’s that time again! We need Bonus Stations for our 2019 Three Day Weekend contest.  Last year’s Bonus Stations did a bang-up job, and they are welcome to volunteer again. We’d really like to see some of the new guys take this opportunity to expand their world, also.  Last year we had 80 logs submitted. That is up 35% from 2017. We can exceed that if we try!

Last year’s Top Dawg and 1st place Bonus Station was Steve - VA3TPS - from Fenelon Falls, ON Canada.  That was the 4th year in a row that Steve has captured Top Dawg and his 3rd year as top Bonus Station. As much as we’d like to see him win again, it’s about time he was seriously challenged.

If you are interested in becoming a Bonus Station for 2019, send an email to Matt, AK4MK, at  info@... or respond here on the reflector.  He will attempt to ensure that stations are spread around for all to enjoy. Please respond no later than May 19th, so that we have a chance to incorporate the Bonus Stations into the Contest Rules and scoring software on our website.

The Three Day Weekend for 2019 begins the Friday after Memorial Day, May 31, at 0000 UTC Friday (Thursday evening in NA) and runs through 2359 UTC Sunday, June 2, 2019.

Contest details and rules may be found here: Three Day Weekend

Let’s make this another record turnout year and show the Propagation gods we care not for their negative attitudes.

73!

Hi all,
My tower is coming down next Tuesday and I will be silent for a very long time.
I am planning to relocate (Texas or Oregon).
Thank you for keeping me a little active. I made 250 PSK Q's in 5 years, much less than I wanted to.
That's DXing I guess.
Hope to get back on next year.

If it is twice as wide (it doesn’t look like a very wide signal on the picture) then try PSK63 or PSK125 which would definitely be wider and they use the same frequency.

That is PSK31 and 14.070 is the freq they use.

Sorry to hear the tower is coming down Art!  But there always comes a time to paint your wagon and move along!  Texas and Oregon - either will be a change after AZ.

In the meantime, don't give up on getting on the air.  It isn't a tower and beam, but you will be amazed what a hamstick, mag mount, battery, laptop, and the rig will do on PSK31 with only 50w or so.  Talk to Dick - KC3EF - the king of PSK31 mobile!  He has worked all over the US and Canada while mobile with just a hamstick.  (But with Kathy driving of course!)  During the 2016 Christmas Holiday I worked KY, ND, and PA for my 366 - portable from the parking lot at a hotel in Jacksonville, Florida.  You don't have to go mobile.  You can sit your driveway or the local A&W (there still are A&W's aren't there?) and have tons of fun!

Hope to see you on the waterfall and work you in a lot less than a year!

Re: Strange Mode on 14070

Mike Flowers

This appears to be PSK63.   The trace has all the shape attributes of a PSK signal.   It’s apparently twice as wide as what I assume are PSK31 signals on the waterfall.

If the op was over-driving the signal or had something else going on that distorted his signal’s tones, your software may not have been able to decode it.
