Looks like I'm out of TDW for the count.

Hooked up FT-1000 MP which just came back from Burghardt in South Dakota and nothing works.  Not one button on the radio... can't change bands, modes, filters, etc.  Plus 14070 has bars every KHz all across the waterfall !  Tried the manual for programming and nothing there worked.

Spent quite a few bucks getting it repaired.  They will get an email on Monday expressing my displeasure.

Can't go back to TS-680S because few can hear me a that because I'm transmitting off frequency.

I'm done for this contest.

Bummer Dude.
Dunno what up with the 680 but it was Shifting offsets back and forth.  Then
It settled down enough for me to work you.
Good luck.

I had given up but just went back and looked at my Rx and see there is a 483
there that I did not recognize. We are good to go.

BUMMMMMM-ER Jerry!  Sorry to hear of your troubles.  Saw you once or twice and tried to call you but nada.  Good luck with your call on Monday.  They didn't keep that "super sensitivity" one and ship you the wrong one by mistake did they?  Better check the serial number!  Let us know what happens.

On the QSY button.
Did you go under Config, MIsc, Sweetspot and change PSK31 to 1500. It defaults to 1000 and you change it there.

Some Thoughts on Software

radio@hollywoodtitle.com <radio@...>

Hi All,

So for at least the TDW contest I’m stuck using FLdigi,

I’ve gotta say it seems really inferior to the HRD suite to me.  I guess it is all what you are used to but there is so much more control  with HRD.

I’ve really gotten spoiled using the computer to completely control the K3 - everything from filters to power to AGC.  It just isn’t there in Hamlib.  I’m fully willing to believe it is just my ignorance and that RigCAT or flrig works better, but I just haven’t been able to make them work.

Perhaps the biggest deal-breaker is that the QSY button ONLY centers on 1000hz.  Any attempt to rewrite that with the “STORE” button is ignored.  This means that my 400hz filter must be manually positioned.  The station I’m trying to call is long gone by then.

I know a lot of people use FLdidgi, but it doesn’t work for me.

Where are all the 070 members? The only band open seems to be 20 m at 14.070, but of the signals on the waterfall, few are club members.

I am looking for you.

All,

We got hit with a K of 7 and A of 12 overnight. It seems to be calming down at the moment. I see Barry on 20 right now, but no one else.

Good luck to everyone.
