I have to sympathize with the person calling CQ and not sending his call.
I did the same thing in the 2018 PSKfest.

I had my CQ macro all set up and started to call CQ, several tines, with no answer,
then someone came back with: YOUR CALL??

My eyes quickly shot up to my transmitted data, sure enough, no call. Changed my

I had a fairly productive day on the road.  Worked the following from EM43: VE2UC, JD, 140; N7WE, Rick, 1602; K7PAX, Paula, 1739; KB1PJ, David; KA4ZXW, NASA/Langley.  The Langley station was giving a demonstration for a group of school students.

From EM44: N2MLP, Brian, 718; KC8WSM, Bill, 1191; KG6MZS, Eric, 814.

From EM35: VA3FLF, Steve, 2301; N4KXO, Jay.

Finally from EM36: N6CEK, Charles, 2163 who was mobile in AZ.

Propagation seemed to be better to the North East coast or to the West.  I could just make out Rick, but enough for a contact and the same with N4KXO, Jay, another FL station.  Heard nothing from the rest of the South or the mid-West, which is probably why I could not work N9VY, Jerry.  Had some brief traces of EU stations, but not enough for a contact.

We are stationary in Lake Ozark for the rest of the week and then on to St Louis.

It was fun to work everyone and I will post when heading back down to FL.

Hi Jay,

I am running an IC7100 at 80 watts to a 20 mtr hamstick mounted on the left rear of the Town & Country mini-van.  The mount is about at the height of the tail light.   For the computer I am using a ASUS UX360 laptop/tablet with a SSD.  Running Fldigi with N3FJP ACL for the logging.  Setup seems to be working fairly well.  I like that I can connect to the 7100 thru an USB interface which eliminates the need for any extra boxes.  The control head of the 7100 sets on the dash cupholders really well and the radio body is under the right front seat.  The 20 mtr hamstick has SWR of about 1.5 to 1.  I tried the 40mtr, but the SWR is really bad, so I need to play with it some more.

Hope that answers your question.

then someone came back with: YOUR CALL??

My eyes quickly shot up to my transmitted data, sure enough, no call. Changed my
macro and all was well.

Oh Well.....never to old to learn something or make a mistake.

Steve-
I agree.  Having been associated with a small club (about 40 members) that ran one day tech license classes about once or twice per year and being involved in that program, I can say that the followup is critical.  We had a program that gave one year free club membership to everyone that completed the course and passed the exam.  There were followup free classes for the new people.  Things like selecting a first rig, setting up a station, making your first QSO.  Many made their first 2m contact from the club station with a mentor standing behind them.  Often the contact was with other club members who were "salted" to be available on the repeater.  Next step was checking in to our nightly ARES 2m training net.  New techs were paired with a mentor and "shadowed" them on one of our public service events.  That was followed by getting them involved in our classroom ARES training programs.  ARES was the bridge to HF and upgrading to general.  Many, not all, but many got their general within a year.  For that course of study we recommended HamTestOnline.  It worked great. This program got a great response and brought new active members into the club.  Wasn't that long ago...back in the late 2000's.  Don't know if they still do it as I haven't been active in that club in several years.  It was a far cry from simply offering a one day course and testing.
