This is how we can tell if a call is a 070 club member or not.

Does fldigi have a system similar to this?  If so, how does it work, and does it point to a specific .dat file?

Can you send me a DAT file from fldigi?  Will see if I can figure a way to convert our member list to a DAT file for fldigi users.

Used to write programs for the F-16 program that would read OFP data provided by hardware vendors and convert it to format recognized by our ATE.

Thanks for the post.  Your mobile system works really well.  I was surprised how strong you were into Florida on that last trip out to AZ and CA.  One question though.  You wrote: I saw a mount on another ham’s vehicle that fit between the vehicle body and the taillight, which I purchased and mounted.  I have a cord that goes from the antenna to the roof rack to keep it straight when going 70 to 80 mph down the interstates.  What was the mount and what is the vehicle you are using?  I've never found a suitable way to mount my hamsticks for use while moving.  I have just been using a magmount while we were parked.

Had some time today and band was stinky so erased MixW  from the computer.  Signal were low on waterfall. Reloaded 3.2 and I see that signals appear to be stronger than an hour ago.  Thinking maybe there was some garbage in files as computer was also a bit sluggish. However still can't get 070 members files to work with it, but the icons work okay; in fact one station said he had a ?? GB computer and up came the Union Jack !  Love the icons.

Charles - I don't personally use FLDigi, so I can't really address that issue, but hopefully someone on here does and can help.

Does FLDigi have alarms?  If so, I'd guess that their documentation lists the format it needs to be in. If that's the case, then maybe the generic files can be put to use somehow.

Re: Want to be a Hero?

Richard Rohrer

Hi Rick,

For my mobile work I use a IC-7100 with a LDG tuner going to a 20 mtr hamstick.  This combination has worked fairly well. I use a ASUS laptop/tablet computer connected to the radio thru a usb cable.  This is also the computer I use when at home, so I don’t have to remember to move things between computers.  Although at home I have three monitors instead of just the 10.5 inch screen on the laptop.  I have switched to using Fldigi  for my digital work and send the contacts to N3FJP’s ACL which is my main log.   This allows me to send control and audio to the radio.  Unlike my IC-7410 this unit created 2 ports instead on one.   I saw a mount on another ham’s vehicle that fit between the vehicle body and the taillight, which I purchased and mounted.  I have a cord that goes from the antenna to the roof rack to keep it straight when going 70 to 80 mph down the interstates.  I have not done much for ignition noise, which does not seem to be as much of a problem with digital.

For portable, I use the same radio, but depending on how much stuff I want to take with me.  I have a Flagpole Buddy 22ft pole that I purchased to use with the RV as an antenna support.  I have used it with my Icom AH-4 remote antenna tuner with a 22 ft wire antenna, with a 24 ft ground.  With this combination I can tune any band from 40 mtrs up and it works fairly well.  I also have one of the end feed antenna baluns  which I can also use.  At the Orlando hamfest I picked up another 20 mtr hamstick and plan on making a mount so I can use both of them as a 20 mtr dipole for situations that I can’t put up a wire antenna.  I usually carry enough wire to make a dipole if I need one.

I guess that sums it up from my operating.

Subject: [070Club] Interesting survey

Ran across survey conducted last year(2017)  before & during FT-8 arrival.  I puled the PSK31 part out separately because it was interesting to see PSK31 stats.

Bear in mind that only about 688 responded to this survey so it's not a good sampling, but if 070 members responded to 2018 survey perhaps we could up the data on PSK31 and it might help. The PSK31 part is the one attached as "survey.png".

Reading over the entire  survey is fun, but as I said it's not a good cross section of the ham population. However, N8RMA has a great idea going here because he doesn't have an axe to grind.

Anyhow, this is some ham-related to do while waiting on propagation....
