Re: 20M
Don't let a dead bad fool you. This morning I worked Senegal on 20m (6W7/ON4ACT) when there was only maybe 2 signal across the waterfall. I saw a weaker signal which I clicked on and saw the 6W calling CQ. He answered me and that was that and at the end he faded completely out. I always say the band is usually open to somewhere ... although it may be a grid square middle of open ocean ! Jerry n9avy

I saw two or three in the last half hour on 20m, only one decoded well enough to read. The waterfall was changing colors like the band was iffy here in SW OK. 73, Geary KE5IRK

Sorry to hear about the bad weather. Ice is the worst. If I didn't know better I'd swear that your QTH was in New England. John got 5 inches of snow but we were below the snow and ice line so all we got was rain. We are very thankful for that. Temp on Wednesday was 70 F which broke a long-standing record. This is really weird for February in New England. We dodged a bullet but we are not resting easy. There's a saying up here that "If you don't like the weather...just wait a minute." We are waiting. Good luck with the clean-up and repairs. Joe KA1PPV #1482

Re: Gap Titan DX + Generator
Jim... Been there, done that... All I can say is to NOT buy a generator from Harbor Freight...junk... Buy Honda with a battery starter... Here in California, there's special emission law requirements... A group of us in the So Cal DX Club pooled our order and bought from a dealer in Phoenix... We drove over there and picked them up in 2, 1 ton dually pick ups... BTW: I can run the refrig., the freezer and all of the LED lighting and flat panels here with it... Milt N6MG 070-650

We got it bad. Trees down everywhere, my backyard is trashed from my tree, and neighbors trees. One of his pines sent a branch into the guy for the titan, almost bent it double, and then froze like that. Now maybe the xyl will see the need for the generator I have been asking for.

Looks like you need a chain saw for all those trees. Bzzz... an antenna is safe. Probably would have been a good idea to have one of those tilt over base plates for the GAP. Remember seeing them somewhere recently. Might be a good investment about $150 for cheaper model and almost $500 for the really good one. Probably best to just replace the bent section . Hate ice storms. Had one a few years ago and the yagi elements went inverted U-shape; fortunately they thawed out back into shape. Good luck Jim !
