I love the contest scorer program...Nice analysis of the contest. I also noticed that I forgot to weed out the k1KSC, Kennedy space center QSO I grabbed during the contest and I fat fingered a state entry..sigh..But it was fun time on coooooold winter nite

One thing I need to figure out how to to is some sort of dupe checking using HRD..even though I used a seperate log and database for the contest it still recongnized QSO's from an old log somewhere and flagged them as worked..Any clues??

FYI

If anyone took their brand new aluminium antenna out of the box and just stuck it all together,  you need to put conductive grease between all sections.  This paste goes by a variety of names and is sold at Home Depot. Lowe's, Maenard's , most electrical supply house and even hardware stores.

This grease probably should be replaced after lots of years in use as there may be oxidation in the joints.  That why antennas sometimes require a bit of TLC. Water gets in a lot of places where it seems impossible. Be sure to use conductive grease liberally .  It's okay it a big glob of it comes out at joint. Just wipe it off.

Have had an antenna with oxidation problems in past. Changing grease corrected problem.

Geary, would loved to have had an OK station in my log.  You are only about 120 miles or so from me here in Gainesville.  N5SLY is about 30 miles east in Sherman could see people working him, but did not see his signal at all.

I too have a vertical up, a Gap Titan DX, but have started having SWR problems at times with it (It is 20 years old).  Am too old to climb the ladder to take it down, so changed to an end=fed wire.

If you have room, look into the QSO-King, good for 160-10 meters.  The one I have is the shorter one, 80 feet I think.  Grandson helped get it up, the end=fed up on a short tower, then used one of those little drones to take the wire up over a tree, and tied it off on a lower branch.  It works great, not sure of the exact final count yet, but had over 100 Q's using that antenna, and have been given several reports that my signal is strong in all directions.

And, have made the change of your email address in the database.

Thanks Rick, I have have major SWR issues for years here, nine yrs, and no one has been able to figure them out.  I sold my vertical a couple of months ago, usually my best antenna.  I was checking my small Alpha Delta when the rope broke and it fell on me.  So I had to rely on the big boy, the Alpha Delta LB+, which was great when I put it up, but pretty sorry the last few years.  As long as I keep my power down around 20 to 25 watts for all HF comms, the SWR stays around 2.0 or less.  Better than the >31 my analyzer normally shows me.  Maybe the cold below freezing wx we had for several days got the length of that wire the correct length.  HI HI  My hearing is so bad about all I do is digital, so when something is happening it is good.  Zero QSOs in the 2017 ARRL Field Day was pretty disappointing, but yesterday was good.  I've been able to do 30-50 a day on FT8 when I do it, but I like good conversations sometimes too, so I enjoy PSK better overall.  I was happy with my thirty.  I did upload last night, and will again when I see the "all clear" to reupload.
Thanks again Rick, seems like I am one of a few Oklahoma stations on PSK and always glad to give other HAMs OK.

Glad you had fun.  That's what it is all about.  And thanks for the QSO.  You were my only Oklahoma in the entire contest!  Hope you made some good progress on endorsements as well.  The contests, and particularly PSK Fest bring out a lot of operators all at the same time.  Please do post your log up to the contest scorer when Matt gives us the "all clear."  There is no such thing "too few to post."  If you log one QSO you've earned an atta boy sticker!

It was indeed full here, had stations from both coasts, this kind of disproves the poor propagation theory, shows that if more people get on their radios, you can and will make contacts.

Another great 070 club contest!!!

I managed to operate much more than I intended.  80 meters was great Friday evening, and 40 was ok. Got on Saturday morning around 7AM local and worked some on 40.  Saturday 20M was booming. Managed to work west coast, east coast, PR, Canada, even had some you don't see often.  Couple of Idaho, Wash, Oregon, WY.  Only thing north of me was one KS station none of the Dakotas, Neb,  Ok.

Saturday on 20 proved that the lack of propagation is caused by the scarcity of people on the bands.

Had a blast, and looking forward to the next one, which is Valentines Sprint, I think.

Soapbox Comments:

Made a lot of contacts on 80 and 40.  Some strange looking signals on the waterfall from time to time.  7.040 is usually good for a couple of DX stations but it was full of RTTY.  I would call CQ and sometimes would get someone send their call sign one time but often it was scrambled.  Me thinks you should send your call at least twice.  Also, I know what my call is, if you call me, send my call one time and send your call two or three times.  A lot of fun, wish the propagation had been better but the waterfall got a good workout.  I really enjoy the PODXS 070 Club!

One typical contest aspect that has been missing from our 070 contests is SOAPBOX.  So here's your chance.  Post your 2018 PSK Fest stories and experiences here.  Anything from "had fun" to "it was so cold the iguanas froze, fell out of the palm trees, and pulled down my homebrew 16 mile long receive-only beverage antenna."  Let's hear how it was for you!

Well, I’m not a contester… not in the competitive manner anyhow, but I did enjoy PSKFest. I was only able to operate hit-and-miss, but managed to get 30+ QSOs, which helped my WTW, LONP, and Grids totals.

40 meters was lousy at the start, but finally settled and because usable later on. 80 was pretty good from the start – at least I was working the stations I could hear.

I’d love to see the contest expanded to 160 meters too.

Saturday was the first time I have seen hardly anyone on PSK waterfall.  It was GREAT.  I only made about 30 QSO, had a few good ol' fashion ragchews too.  I forgot to go see what FT8 was doing I was having so much fun.  I am not a contester, but try to participate some to help others.  I was only on around nine hours, I missed that there was a contest until I "just thought I would see if there way anyone on PSK before opening FT8".
