Good Luck!

I can't get on until after 00:30 UTC or so, and by then I'm sure you will have done the QSO.  But I'll check the Awards Progress Checker.  If you haven't uploaded your log by then, I'll get on 20 and if I can't find you there, I'll have a look on 40.

The finish line is in sight!  You are going to do it!

There's a signal on 14071.71 khz  which has been on for about a week. Several hams have tried to pinpoint the signal, but with not a lot of success.  Would appreciate it if anyone is able to get a direction on that signal.

Seems to be just an idle carrier with no data on it.

Thanks.

That’s going to be one elusive fox, for certain, and close in on 20M, even more of a problem.   There’s a lot of wide, open and empty spaces down thereabouts.

I suspect we have an op off to Grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving, and the signal will be gone by Sunday evening or Monday.

Hi Gang,

I’ve taken a few casual readings on this signal from different headings here in CM97bf on my Elecraft P3 Panadapter.

From what I’m seeing, the signal is strongest at approximately 120 degrees azimuth from my QTH.   I get the strongest signal – S5-6 – in that direction.   My 3L SteppIR has decent F/B performance, and I am getting a distinct null at 300 degs, pointed 180 degs away, and at 30 degs when the elements are perpendicular to 120 degs.

I’m also seeing QSB on the signal and it sometimes drops to S3-4, but soon returns to an S5-6 level.  From this I conclude the signal is not local from here in the SF Bay Area.

My 120 deg line roughly follows the central valley, southwestern AZ, Northern Mexico, Central America and on to Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Bolivia, etc.

Anyone else have a fix on this signal?

Many years ago, I was in a QSO with a fellow in NY State on Friday afternoon.    After he signed, I noticed his signal was still on – no modulation.   It was on all weekend.   I send him an email, and by Monday it was gone.   He explained he had left for the weekend and hadn’t noticed that his software was holding his rig in TX.  He was only running 5W, so his rig apparently showed no ill effects.

I'm still seeing PSK idle tracks on 14.0722. Clean but no modulation. Coming in very strong today. If it were a QSO it would get a well deserved 599. IMD -29db. 21:23 UTC.

It has been like this for a few weeks now. ???????

Rogue PSK31 signal

Jerry N9AVY

There's a signal on 14071.71 khz  which has been on for about a week. Several hams have tried to pinpoint the signal, but with not a lot of success.  Would appreciate it if anyone is able to get a direction on that signal.

Seems to be just an idle carrier with no data on it.

Thanks.

Matt,

Also got some stickers up here in CT.

Like Christmas in November.  Thanks!

They'll look real nice on the cert especially the Aloha.  It's 29 Deg outside right now.

I can almost feel the warmth.  Oh... the wife just cranked up the heat.  (sigh)

Hi Harry,

Yes, that does correspond nicely.   Your 210 deg heading and my 120 deg heading seem to indicate something around Monterrey, Mexico, or up around San Antonio, TX.

There’s a huge margin of error in this, but fun to guesstimate … ;>)

I have a hex beam, not quite the performance of your antenna but I get a definite peak at about 210° also at an S5 to S6 which, correlating with your observations, would seem to put the signal in northern Mexico.  This from grid square EN35hb in Minnesota.

Is there a Club endorsement for "non-ragchew".  Maybe they are shooting for something like that.
