That’s going to be one elusive fox, for certain, and close in on 20M, even more of a problem.   There’s a lot of wide, open and empty spaces down thereabouts.

I suspect we have an op off to Grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving, and the signal will be gone by Sunday evening or Monday.

Hi Gang,

I’ve taken a few casual readings on this signal from different headings here in CM97bf on my Elecraft P3 Panadapter.

From what I’m seeing, the signal is strongest at approximately 120 degrees azimuth from my QTH.   I get the strongest signal – S5-6 – in that direction.   My 3L SteppIR has decent F/B performance, and I am getting a distinct null at 300 degs, pointed 180 degs away, and at 30 degs when the elements are perpendicular to 120 degs.

I’m also seeing QSB on the signal and it sometimes drops to S3-4, but soon returns to an S5-6 level.  From this I conclude the signal is not local from here in the SF Bay Area.

My 120 deg line roughly follows the central valley, southwestern AZ, Northern Mexico, Central America and on to Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Bolivia, etc.

Anyone else have a fix on this signal?

Many years ago, I was in a QSO with a fellow in NY State on Friday afternoon.    After he signed, I noticed his signal was still on – no modulation.   It was on all weekend.   I send him an email, and by Monday it was gone.   He explained he had left for the weekend and hadn’t noticed that his software was holding his rig in TX.  He was only running 5W, so his rig apparently showed no ill effects.

I'm still seeing PSK idle tracks on 14.0722. Clean but no modulation. Coming in very strong today. If it were a QSO it would get a well deserved 599. IMD -29db. 21:23 UTC.

It has been like this for a few weeks now. ???????

I try to check 10m almost daily and I agree with Dan ...mostly hiss and noise :-(   ....

Guess you're getting something out there in AZ, but if I heard anything here in Illinois I'd be very surprised. Illinois probably has taxed propagation here and you won't hear anything unless you pay !

Well, I check out 10 meters daily (including CQ’s on ssb, psk) and not a thing but hissing noise and has been that way for months, other than the occasional big contests and then 10 meters seems to awaken!! Amazing how that works.  But after the contest, it is usually back to hissing noise.  I see so many others say the same thing from different parts of the country.  Where is all this supposed 10 meter activity anyway!!!

While everyone is focused on easy QSOs (FT8 on 17 & 20M), no one except for a few dedicated PropNET operators continue to put out PSK31 packets on 10-Meters (Plus a couple of other bands).
The past few days, there has been a few openings (Fall/Winter Es). They occur for 1-4 hours, usually late morning to solar noon and again late afternoon into the evening.  The Eastern half has had good conditions and out west we really only had one good opening the past 3 days.  Again these are short lived and not great openings, but still better than nutin'.

Here is what the PropNET people have seen the last 3 days.

I have heard everyone rave about WSPR and Skimming CW, FT8 & JT65.

Put out a simple CQ (CQ CQ de KA5DWI KA5DWI k) and we will post it if heard.
Also many of us announce on our transmissions that our ROBOT is turned on. Call us 3X3 and we will answer you.

I have a hex beam, not quite the performance of your antenna but I get a definite peak at about 210° also at an S5 to S6 which, correlating with your observations, would seem to put the signal in northern Mexico.  This from grid square EN35hb in Minnesota.
