As totality approached, there was a noticeable drop in the temperature. The breeze picked up, which we were told was typical for evening time. It was the equivalent of sunset, but not total darkness. Totality was an amazing experience. For 1 minute 49 seconds we could observe the eclipsed sun and the sun's corona without our eclipse glasses. It was an incredible and amazing sight. As the moon moved from in front the sun, we could see shimmering shadows of the sun's corona cast on the concrete surrounding the pool. I didn't expect that at all. W5MMW Matt Manjos
Thanks! I spent some extra time adjusting the OCFD to not only low swr but also where X=0. I think the height is also helping. I'll be on 20m for at least another hour today. Probably back on later tonight after that. Matt

You and hundreds of thousands of other "Eclipse Peepers" ! Traffic jamsIt was pretty amazing. I got some pretty good pictures and met some great people. I even remembered to actually look up at totality in between taking all the pictures with the telescope. :-) The strangest thing for me was the lighting. Very hard to describe what it looked like. The closest comparison I can make is the orangeish tint from street lamps or looking through blu-blocker glasses. -- David, K9DWR #1604 LONP #255 david@graniteweb.com

Interesting. A few days ago, I noticed that my details & bio set up for W5MMW/VE3 were deleted. I
logged a ticket asking if I had done something wrong or broke a rule or
something but was told that "there has never been a W5MMW/VE3 page."
Despite all of the work I put into laying it out, uploading photos, etc:
it was gone.

That used to be a rule it is no longer one. the rule even said that you had to keep a call log for every CQ and if no answer put a line through it. Just an FYI VB station is in Canada so he's not regulated by the FCC anyway. 73 de Chris NO7E NO7E@... no7e@...

Well, I am probably the youngster here (no disrespect, i mean one of the newest hams in the group ) but isn't it somewhere in the FCC regs that all operators are supposed to keep a log of all activity? Does the FCC excuse that requirement if the contact is not listed on the stations preferred 3rd party website? My guess is no....
