OK Elmers from my snip what can be done to improve John's trace (see snip in photos) or is it due to wx or something here? Frustrated this morning to be able to work SC and OR  only 14 hours to make it trancontinental grade. kd0fip 1396

KC9UR Pontoon Portable APE Sighting Confirmed

v32hoosier@...

Sources have confirmed that the KC9UR Pontoon Portable APE has been sighted and is expected to be on the air this afternoon through Wednesday afternoon (8/24 - 8/26).  The APE will be operating from Stan's (W9SMR/9) pontoon boat afloat on Round Lake in northeast Indiana using the KC9UR callsign.  We plan to operate on 8 bands (40m thru 6m), depending on propagation, with two rigs simultaneously on different bands.

As in past years we are offering a nice QSL card, and for those APE hunters with lots of bananas and persistance, a custom certificate if you work us on three bands (see the KC9UR QRZ page for details).  Last year there were 11 certificate winners (i.e. K4LEA, K8TOM, KE4JB, KK4CPS, KU8Q, N5SLY, N7WE, W2DEN, W3GXV, W3WMU and WA4MIT)!  Special kudos went to 3 certificate winners who worked us on 4 bands (K8TOM, N7WE and W2DEN)! We're looking forward to seeing everyone again on the waterfall - Happy Hunting!

Robert,

You are going to make me blush. I'm just glad to have a great group of
people to share in the fun. We had a great run last year and I hope
this is the start of another one. We already have David done (finally),
and John is well on his way.

Here's hoping he gets that #20 spot!

11:00 slot completed easily – got 2 within a couple of minutes. So
far, after some fretting and worrying would not be successful all
previously needed slots have been filled. Next hour (12:00 UTC) is the
last to be worked this date for about 6 hours than 2 afternoon slots
to work.

Appreciate all those 070 members (and a few of the 070 members I was
not aware of) bailing me out. It has been an easy run as trained
myself for 30 plus years to be awake during night hours so finding the
calls was the toughest…. You guys helped out a TON. We can do this
again all week and clear the board so I get CERT number 20 (assuming
nobody else sneaks in front of me… I’m not going to mention any names,
David KJ4IZW, … LOL).
Excellent. Looking forward to seeing you in 20 minutes. Still planning
on 40m first.

Keep it up!
