Hey, I started with a TS-120 for PSK. It worked great. It was a bit
like driving stick instead of automatic, but still got the job done. :-)

So, is anyone out there using a Kenwood TS-50  ???

The dates of the KC9UR Pontoon Portable APE have been finalized to be starting Monday afternoon, Aug 24 through Wednesday afternoon, Aug 26th.  Stan (W9SMR/9) and I are looking forward to the event and to working a lot of 070ers.  As in past years we will be offering a nice QSL card, plus, for those persistent enough to work us on three bands, a nice certificate.  We plan to operate on 40m - 6m.

Milt - please update the dates on your APE list - thanks!

Re: Turkey on

This is a reply to all the emails.

I had pretty good quantity of signals today on 20M today but very limited time.  We were in a flood situation here with rain for the last 20 days.  In between monitoring the sump pump and sweeping water out of the garage I would look at the computer screen DX stations.  I had no time to chat so DX was the name of the game for today.

In any case 20M was busy but I only got 4 contacts, Lithuania, England, Spain and Italy.  10M only had two signals but only one answered me, Uruguay.  15M yielded two, Turkey and Brazil.  I answered the English station on 15M that covered the Turkey station but got no response.

I have several.  Unfortunately one is MM0ABB who is right on top of the Turkish station.  Another is a Brizilian station just under that spot.

[PODXS 070 CLUB] From the Executive Director's Desk

Matthew King - KK4CPS <mrk.twg@...>

Hey, y'all!

I sure hope everybody is enjoying the club!

We recently made the Antarctica endorsement retroactive to the beginning of time, so ANY PSK31 contacts with Antarctica will now earn you the award!  Go ahead and submit your logs to earn this pretty rare endorsement!

Remember to upload your entire PSK31 log so you don't miss out on anything else. Also, at the top of the report, be sure to click on all of the links: 070-ENDORSEMENT, 070-LONP, 070-WTW, & 070-GRIDS. The unofficial ones (PFX, CTY, & WAS) are to the right of those.

When you submit your log, please scroll to the very bottom of your report to see if you have any IOTA issues. If so, please try to rectify them by either sending in the extra info requested, or by removing/correcting the IOTA info IN YOUR LOG then resubmitting again.  If there are any questions regarding IOTA issues, please send me an email and we'll get it squared away.  If you need help editing your log, let me know and we'll find somebody to help if I don't know your particular logging software well enough to do it.

If you have IOTA issues at the bottom of your checker report that have no description next to them, but simply appear in yellow or red, then the IOTA entity number is most likely incorrectly formatted IN YOUR LOG, and will require correction before resubmitting. Here are some examples:

NA-049 - this is the correct NN-XXX format with the hyphen between the NN and XXX portions. The NN will be AF, AN, AS, EU, NA, OC, or SA. The XXX will always be a three digit number, with one or two leading zeroes as required. No character other than a hyphen will work in the NN-XXX entity number.
NA49 - this is missing two components, the hyphen and the leading zero before the "49"
NA049 - this is missing the hyphen between the NA and the 049
NA 049 - this has a space where the hyphen is required
NA/049 - this has a slash where the hyphen is required.

Speaking of IOTA - there is still a tremendous backlog of IOTA submissions that is being reviewed, albeit at a slow pace. Don't fret! Once the current mailing cycle is complete and in the hands of the USPS, I will be free to dive into the IOTA checking along with John, KE4JB.  Loren, WA3WZR will be joining the effort in the next few weeks as well. Once we can all three get on it in earnest, we'll see the 900+ submission backlog come down to a more manageable ongoing number.

Remember our APE events going on this month and the 80m Sprint coming up next month. If you have suggestions, ideas, questions, or even complaints, please send me an email.

73 y'all!

Matt King
