Bonus Station Info:
Goooood morning... I've had the pleasure of being a bonus station in the TDW on 2 separate occasions several years ago. Here's what to consider: 1) There's usually 4 bonus stations in the known world, extending out beyond infinity. 2) Be prepared to spend a lot of time with "B.I.C." (Butt in the chair) 3) The time commitment listed in 2) is very important, as it's necessary to give as many 070r's a chance to work you on multiple bands. 4) 160 m isn't imperative, but copious amounts of 2) on the $$$ bands of 40m, 20m and 15m is a prerequisite. 5) The macro, "cq cq cq TDW de <MYCALL>, Bonus Station k" is a real kick. Kinda hard to be humble about, ya know? Alotta alotta alotta cq'ing and some search and pounce. (I've found that search and pounce works extremely well when you qsy to a different band.) All considered, the only "rule" I'd change ? (I'm glad you asked!) More Bonus Stations, maybe 6?, but still a prerequisite of a pretty much a clean sweep to earn the big bonus. I hope this helps those applying for "Bonus Station" and for those "searching & pouncing". BTW, W3KM has a program, "GenLog" that works perfectly for almost every contest. Download it, update the 070 membership file from David's fantastic Club Membership Icon website, at: http://hamclubs.info/, and you're ready to go! GenLog is free and covers many contests, digital, cw and ssb, for those with a mic in their shack. I'll be using my highest angle of radiation antenna this year, a Gap Titan that radiates equally poor in all directions. Milt. Matthew King - KK4CPS <mrk.twg@...>
We write contest rules not to dictate to anybody how to spend their radio time or to see how we can micromanage an op's macros, but to give all of us a fair, KNOWN framework in which to have our contests. Many people have enjoyed these structured events over many decades (not just 070 contests) and I certainly hope many more will begin to participate and enjoy an activity that I personally find quite fun. Many clubs (10-10 and EPC come to mind as two prominent examples) require the member number to be exchanged. Other things may be required in addition to it, generally including SPC and other contest specific bits. I believe 10-10 even has a contest in which they request your 10-10 #, your 070 #, and your EPC # to boot. EPC contests generally require the EPC # and SPC, along with other specific information depending on the contest. There may come a time (though I certainly hope there's not) that we aren't able to use David's automagical scorer. Right now he devotes a lot of time and effort towards it so that we may enjoy it. I don't foresee that changing, but who knows? We definitely need to appreciate the awesome tools that he's made for us as 070 Club Technical Director and show him our rich appreciation. Here's a contribution from the CONTEST 2.0 initiative: ALL 070 sponsored contests will require as an exchange a MINIMUM of two pieces of information: 070 Member # and S/P/C. This rule will not preclude a presently non-existent "proper" RST/SER contest that would not require this exchange. I'd hate to see anybody not participate in our upcoming contests because of a disagreement with one of the rules, but should that be one's prerogative, then so be it. We just don't need to hear about it on the list. There is a duty of an owner/moderator of a list to maintain integrity, a positive direction, and to quell animosity among the list's members. As such, I will begin to moderate those with a proclivity for "fussing" or "rabble rousing." This is not something I anticipate needing to do very often at all, as this list tends to stay on course quite well of its own volition. Civilly debating the merits of various rules can be fun. Rantings are not fun, they are not welcome, and, frankly, won't be tolerated. If you have an "I can't sleep so I'll type instead" "fuss session" in mind, then send it to me, the Club Director OFF THE LIST at kk4cps@.... The buck stops here. Anybody failing to heed this warning will find themselves moderated at best. I hate saying things like this, folks. Please just keep the list a positive place for all. Things can most certainly get out of hand in contest-land, just as any other game can. I don't believe we've come anywhere near that point with our rules, nor do I believe we will. Our computerized scoring has been a boon to the club, especially with the automatic award checker, but it still has a fair amount of human oversight. Maybe that's the key. Now that this unpleasantness is behind us, let's move on with the PODXS 070 Club Three Day Weekend Contest! ~WOO HOO!~ 73

Re: 31 FLAVORS CONTEST RESULTS
Craig AC4M
Hello Ivor and the group,
I have not involved in awhile to step out of the way for others, I have noticed years ago the contacts rates were dropping off and less action on all bands. Maybe some of the problem is coming from operators , like a really silly exchange that has nothing pertaining to the contest and lots of silly macros in general, I could say my name is Craig and he/she will say 599 100% copy Jonathan (auto grab from database), wow I just wasted my time sense he/she will not read the screen or to lazy to type in my name or grab from screen or someone answering after I have been CQ ing "CQ Contest" and they have no clue I was in a contest, What!? 50% of the conversation is understanding what is being sent and letting the person know that he/she does understand, if you do not understand then you find out by the internet , ask a question etc. My point being you do not see as much of these problems with people using RTTY in contest, Why is PSK different?? Is it because a different breed? People's IQ is lower? What in the heck is the deal with some of the PSK ops. How do you even fix it? It is like people are not taking PSK as a serious mode as a contest or Dxepedition (ie. BPSK63) mode because of operators actions. I have done about all I know to do to help the situation and it drives me mad and that is after 20,866 BPSK31 QSO's

Three Day Weekend Bonus Stations
Matthew King <mrk.twg@...>
REQUEST FOR BONUS STATIONS FOR 2015 THREE DAY WEEKEND!!! The 2014 Three Day Weekend Contest Top Dog was Charlie, K8IJ. Charlie is our former sticker/certificate guru, and will be most welcome as our Top Dog Bonus Station in this year's contest. Having been one last year, I can tell you that being a Bonus Station is a very neat opportunity, where you should be able to give out your call many times, be rather competitive with pile of of calls seeking you out, and see what "running a frequency" is all about. Ask any other former Bonus Station and I believe you'll get the same story - it's a lot of fun! You'll get a custom sticker and certificate for being a Bonus Station, so you'll have a couple of rare ones on your wall as well. At least one more of our "old guard" stations has volunteered, and we can certainly count on them for many hours of operating. I'd love to see some of the newer guys take this opportunity to be on the business end of a pile up! We need at least two more people to sign up. Please let me know by May 1st if you'd like to be a Bonus Station. 73
