Re: Contest Exchange Question

Mike Miller <lists@...>

Hi Bill,

I guess I prefer the first. It is easy to get into the "exchange
in" field of my log, the repeat acts as a check when print isn't
100% and it is easy to send with <xout> <xout> in my macro.

I will look at cleaning up my macros before the test, I know
they have more than needed and need work. As a casual
participant, I haven't focused on the Q rate, but I don't send
the weather report and my personal history either.

I personally prefer the send of the three - give you a better chance of getting the 070 number correct in the log in this contest.
Hope to see you later

Re: Contest Exchange Question

Bill,

I think they would all work.

Personally, I send out: “Milt  650  Ca  –  Milt  650  Ca  k”

I don’t ask “ok?” or “qsl?”. If they need a fill, they can ask for it.

Why this exchange? Because I’m in the ‘contest mode’ right now, and the voices in my head are telling me what to do.

J

73 es see you tonight,

Milt 650 Ca.

Check out this ARRL Letter from Jan 2010 - http://www.arrl.org/arrlletter?issue=2010-01-07#toc06 - scroll down to the Know You Now headline.  The 4U call is a UN issued call, but the World Bank Amateur Radio Club call 4U1WB, in Washington DC does not count as a separate entity for ARRL DXCC.  Drat!

DXView (DXLab Suite) lists it as USA as well., with location of "World Bank (Washington DC)".

Bob, I'd like to thank you as well. The Three Day Weekend contest would not be what it is today were it not for you efforts - I dare say all of the contests benefited from your touch!

Thanks go out to all of the "old guard" for everything they created/built/added to - without their considerable efforts, we wouldn't be doing any of this today!  I sure hope to see y'all on the bands well into the future...

I'm not sure why the contest results fell through the cracks and you have my apologies. Because of that, we're being proactive about the contest scores now. During our currently ongoing CONTEST 2.0 process, we're building a more automated score reporting system for the website. Ideally it will take the results directly from the contest scorer when the submission window closes and automatically post that info directly to a results page for the contest at hand. That'd really eliminate most of the need for manual involvement with the process, eliminating many potential fail points. Our Technical Director, David is a busy man and we're talking about quite a bit of work, so I can't promise a "use by" date, but we've at least moved past the dream phase into the planning process!

I'm actively working on a project right now to create and ship all of the past-due certificates going back to the beginning of last year. There's about 100 of them, so it's taking a bit of time, but it'll be done soon! :-)

Also in the works right now is a new 10m contest coming in June. This was about the only time that we could find - we'll just have to hold the contest and see how the band plays. If the need presents itself, we can adjust from there.

The upshot of all this (and CONTEST 2.0 in general) is to make all of our offerings (contests and endorsements) a step above others. We're building on the many successes of the club and correcting our past mistakes, all to bring a more member-centric focus to the club so that we can ensure a fun, quality experience by everyone involved.  We want to make certain that our members can fully enjoy one of the most unique HAM clubs out there. Various bits are taking longer than expected, but it's gradually coming together, and it'll all be worth the wait!

Looking forward to seeing everybody in the St. Patrick's Day Contest - that's 0000 - 2359 UTC, Sunday, 15 March 2015 this year, don't forget!

Thanks again, Bob!
