2013 PSKFest Results up!
J Budzowski <jbudzowski@...>
The 2013 PSKFest results are up and can be seen at the url below. Congrats to trophy winners K9VIC (QRP SB), WD9FTZ (QRP MB), KD8JSP (LOW) and AK5Y (MED). We had 112 entries this year, only a handful that had problems with their logs and couldn't make the list, so all in all I would say this year's event was a success! Tnx to all who participated and look forward to next year!
If you sent in your log, received an email from me acknowledging receipt and do not see your entry on the results page, or you think your score as listed is way off from what you think it should've been, pse send an email to jbudzowski@verizon,net ....73 de Jay N3DQU http://www.podxs070.com/2013-pskfest-results ---

Re: EPC-RU-PSK contest
Daniel Severance
Thanks for the heads up,
Unlike PODXS I can use someone else's station so I'll see what's available! I have done a few EPC contests from friends stations in CT. 73 Dan ________________________________ From: David Westbrook <dwestbrook@gmail.com> To: 070@yahoogroups.com Sent: Friday, February 15, 2013 4:32 PM Subject: [070] EPC-RU-PSK contest Anyone planning on significant psk31 time in the RU-PSK contest this weekend? Re: Valentine Sprint
Daniel Severance
Greetings,
A ham in the San Diego DX club compared windows 7 and windows 8 (after removing the interface) and found that windows 8 uses a lot less memory. It makes sense - since windows 8 will span tablets to PCs, they finally are forced to write more efficient code which benefits older machines. Keep us up to date how things work! 73 Dan N6ERD ________________________________ From: Jim Sens <jdsens@earthlink.net> To: 070@yahoogroups.com Sent: Thursday, February 14, 2013 9:45 PM Subject: Re: [070] Valentine Sprint I actually like windows 8, once i ditched the metro interface. it really brought my old dell laptop back to life, much snappier response than xp or 7. 73 de KX8C Jim On 2/14/2013 9:41 PM, Mark Crosbie - N8MNI wrote: [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Valentine Sprint Log Submission Tips
v32hoosier <v32hoosier@...>
Being a relative new member (#1620), this was my first Valentine Sprint, and I really enjoyed it. I did have some difficulties submitting my log, so I thought I'd pass along some tips for other "newbies".
The automated processes for scoring and log submission works really slick (thanks to all who had a hand in making that happen), provided you have your log data in the correct format. Submitting your entry is a two step process. First you have to submit your log to the scoring website http://dwestbrook.net/projects/ham/scorer/?contest_id=Valentine-Sprint&year=2013. The scoring website reviews your log and automatically extracts the data needed for scoring (i.e. # or YL/OM QSOs, SPC's, etc.) and then calculates your score. It also puts together a log summary that's used by the Contest Manager. The second part of the process is to submit your information from the scoring (including the log summary produced by the scorer) to the Contest Manager via the link found in the Valentine Sprint rules (i.e. http://www.podxs070.com/vs-entry). The problems I ran in to involved making sure my log was set up the way the scoring software expected. Here are the tips that I found. 1) The DXCC field on each contact must be filled out with the correct DXCC entity number (i.e. United States = 291, Canada = 1, Puerto Rico = 202, etc..) or your multipliers and score will be zero. You can get the DXCC entity numbers from the ARRL (just google "DXCC list") 2) The State and Country fields must be filled out (you can't rely on the scorer parsing them out of exchange info). 3) The OM/YL designator goes into the "Serial Number In" field. If that field is blank, it assumes OM, so you only need to fill in the YL contacts (saves some work). I hope this is helpful. Sorry about the length of the post. de Bob, KC9UR

Re: Valentine Spint
Managed to work a few, but obviously missed a few more (drat !). The QSB made signals rough at times with them being up & down ... so much up & down I was starting to get seasick, hi !
Had a good time, but about 2300 LT I was falling asleep and slowing down. Never saw 2 AM LT. Not a winner, but just like the Cubs , "There's always next year !". Jerry N9AVY #454

Only heard N9AVY,KC9JBU and N7MJ but just too much QRN here fer the QRP to cut through. I was counting on N6ERD for at least one contact.HI HI.
So there was no joy in Mudville this time. I struck out. Hope to see you all the next time around! GL & 73. Joe KA1PPV #1482

Valentine Sprint
Running on lousy antenna tonight. Made a few contacts. Most were good, but a couple non-070 members sneaked in. Worked a couple new ones for LONP.
East coast seems to be fading out. I'm on 40m, but don't think I'll be on 80m.. will give it a try later if antenna will load up. 160m is a no -go. Thanks for the Q's gals N' guys ! Jerry N9AVY [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
