Re: what is that heartbeat signal near 14.070 -1660 or so ?

Jerry N9AVY

Mike was referring to beacons (and similar transmiiters) which are not permitted in HF bands in U.S. other than 10m if it is unattended.  Automatic transmissions must have a control operator on the premises at all times. Part 97:203.

Think this was in response to an earlier question about Prop Net stations/beacons.

Mike / Jerry,

I'm confused...are we talking about briefs or beacons?

Oh well, perhaps my XYL is right and I need to get back on my med's...

Yes. If unattended they are in violation of part 97. But, you have to prove it.

WOTM question

Jerry N9AVY

Finally back on PSK after several months absence.  Lots of computer (software & hardware) problems plus a couple antenna problems as well.

Anyhow, since last week I started working on WOTM and it seems the only letter I'm missing is the "Y' .   Are there any Y's around or am I out of luck this month ?

Thanks.

Can anyone identifiy that signal ? It looks like a heartbeat monitor. Looks like it's not US ...

Thanks

I managed to see him just as he started calling CQ and got him before a pileup started :)
Made my day!

I saw him at about 22:30Z, tried to get him a few times, but could not get through the pileup. I guess I should have waited around longer.
