I'm assuming yes, since they're totally separate awards ... e.g. you can
count a contact with me for a "I" for WOTM, WTW, and for Lower48::SC.

The shortest endorsement is SA with 84 QSO's needed (and longest Africa
with 441) ...
The endorsement checker automatically fills in the blanks to complete the
"shortest" endorsements first :)
See your endorsement checker report or the workbook (
http://dwestbrook.net/projects/ham/070-checker/070-WTW.xls ) for more stats
on the various endorsements & letters ... e.g. for the whole thing need
363 "A"'s!

Oh good grief Joe. There's only 2,233 total contacts involved. :-)
They will be a Scoring Tool on David's website as soon as he releases it.
He was awaiting our announcement on the 070 website.
It gives a comprehensive breakdown as to continent and country and how
many of each letter is involved.
We're 23 minutes into it already.

Fellow members,
I'm pleased to announce the "Work The World" has now been unveiled at the
PODXS 070 Club website!

Please read the Rules and the FAQ's 1st, then review the spreadsheets and
pdf files.

"Work The World" isn't a Sprint. It's an award to encourage everyone to
get on the air more, perhaps to participate in our operating events a
little more and have a more enjoyable time with psk31.
Enjoy and,

Dan,

Now there's an idea.  I could tell them that I am involved in researching the next generation "receive all" antennas for TV or whatever.  That way I could change up the config anytime I wanted to. HI HI.

Best you can do is tell them it's for digital TV and then they can't argue (no one can prevent you from putting up Over The Air TV antennas by FCC decree).
Cheers,
Dan

Milt,

The only thing I can fit on this property is a vertical.  I use a Diamond BB7V. I'll bet you thought that I was using a dummy load right?  Unfortunately the only good "wire" trees are on my neighbors properties.  They wouldn't take kindly to me draping anything over their trees.  I just installed it one day and I haven't gotten any flak so far.  Hopefully it will stay that way although there is no radiation danger at my power levels.
A tower is a definite no-no. I'm just trying not to attract any attention.
A former neighbor actually thought that it was an antenna to pick up that new digital TV stuff.  I did my best to explain what it was in laymans terms but all I got was a puzzled look.

I must say that you certainly have outdone even the wildest speculation.

Er...how many lifetimes do we get to complete this???? I think I will have to use up all nine!

Many thanks for all the effort.

Fellow members,
I'm pleased to announce the "Work The World" has now been unveiled at the PODXS 070 Club website!

Please read the Rules and the FAQ's 1st, then review the spreadsheets and pdf files.

"Work The World" isn't a Sprint. It's an award to encourage everyone to get on the air more, perhaps to participate in our operating events a little more and have a more enjoyable time with psk31.
Enjoy and,
73,
Milt.

Milt,

Don't forget that I only own a total of just over 600 QSO's accumulated over about 6 years of "serious" operating.  It goes really slowly when you use 1.5W.

You can bet that I will give it my best shot.

And I thought that LONP was going to take a long time. HI HI

Re: 40-meter Low Band Sprint... WTW Opportunity

Now that W T W is properly launched, I'll be pursuing the Low Band Sprints like a bulldog chasing a cat!
After all, there are only 363 letter "A's" in W T W, and I have to start someplace!
BTW, there are 72 letter "M's".

Hot on the heels of Milt's Work the World (WTW) announcement comes the first of three low band contests - the 40-meter Firecracker Sprint. This is not only a great opportunity to compete in a contest, but also to pick up some new call signs toward the new WTW endorsement (only callsigns logged after July 1, 2012, count for WTW, so this is the first 070 sponsored contest since the endorsement's inception).

As are all of the three Low Band Sprints, this contest is 6 hours in length, and starts at 8:00 p.m. YOUR LOCAL TIME on July 7th (next Saturday). The contest runs through 2:00 a.m. July 8th YOUR LOCAL TIME (next Sunday). I had to shout there because there's always confusion about the rolling start, and rather than explaining things clearly, I'd rather just raise my voice. Well, that's what my kids say....

Seriously, the contest starts when your clock says it's 8:00 p.m. on July 7th, and ends at 2:00 a.m. on the 8th for everyone. We don't run it using UTC. Why? Because we try to equalize band conditions between time zones. As the low bands are generally better at night, it wouldn't be fair if someone had to compete in daylight. I know it raises some issues, such as: What if you're on PDT and you work someone on EDT before the contest starts in your time zone? Can you claim the point, and what about the other station? Well, if you want to work stations before your contest time, that's fine. Unfortunately for you, you get no contest credit. Fortunately for the other station, they get credit for their QSO with you (but may be reluctant to work you later as you'll be a dupe in their log).

This is a fun contest because certificates are given out by time zones and power classes, so you only compete with those in your time zone running a similar level of power. There are three recognized power classes: QRP (<5 Watts), Low (<50 Watts) and Medium (< 100 Watts).

The complete rules may be found at: http://www.podxs070.com/40-meter-firecracker-sprint

73, and I hope to catch many of you on the waterfall next weekend.

WTW checker & xls workbook

David Westbrook

The endorsement check fully supports the new WTW award series ...
Simply use the endorsement checker
http://dwestbrook.net/projects/ham/070-checker/
And there is now a "WTW" link on your report.

And here is a workbook for tracking progress, which includes dupes checking
and statistics:
http://dwestbrook.net/projects/ham/070-checker/070-WTW.xls
It also includes stats on the endorsements themselves, like number of
letters needed per endorsement, distribution of letters, etc.

Any questions/issues/comments, please let me know!
