I try to keep my macro's short. No wx reports, no brag files, no qth, etc.
You learn a lot by looking at the macro's that other stations send. You'll learn what to send, and what NOT to send.
The important thing is to get comfortable, dive in, make a bunch of qso's, run up your LONP total and have fun.
It's a long operating event and it's advantageous to work multiple bands.

Re: New file uploaded to 070

Joe,
Perhaps I misunderstand the rules...but...
If Jim, KB8TXZ, your club's president is operating W8TNO, (070-1520) and you are operating as KJ8O, (070-1244), why can't you both operate at the same time? They are 2 seperate 070 memberships as long as they are manned by seperate folks in seperate locations, with seperate stations. Both stations would receive TDW participation stickers.
Now, if you both intend on using W8TNO, (070-1520), then it just doesnt matter, and you are correct. One station on the air at a time.
Bob, N3PPH, your official opinion please on Joe's opportunity?

Re: Joe, will you be using the club's call during the TDW?

RR, I will indeed be using the club call W8TNO #1520. Our plans (consistent with the contest rules) will be the president of the club Jim KB8TXZ and I will both be operating and we will coordinate our efforts so that we are not both operating at the same time.

Perhaps the club bar-keep can come up with a couple of diabetic friendly libations involving Scotch whiskey....

I am certainly looking forward to this event as well as the reflector chatter.

Corrections are made and a new .xls and .pdf file have been uploaded to the Files section of both club reflectors.
Joe, will you be using the club's call during the TDW?
As with most operating events, once it begins, we'll communicate operating event confabulations via the contest reflector. We have to keep our boy Mark smiling so he can spew forth his famous libation recipes.

Hi Milt and fellow PSKers,

Speaking as the secretary of the Oakland County Amateur Radio Society W8TNO and the new member of PODXS070, I wanted to report a transposition of our club call sign in Milt's excellent dupe sheet. What is listed as W8TON really should be W8TNO.

OCARS is celebrating it's 75th anniversary this year, and the TDW will be our kick-off event for this summer which will include a special event station, and possibly entry in some phone, CW and digital contests. So yes, we plan on being very active during the TDW and lets hope for good propagation.

Good luck to all

Re: self-jamming fixed

Hi Joe,
Let me know if you are going to be one before the contest sometime - I'd like to make sure my receive sensitivity is good enough to find the QRP guys.  I know you are close so you should be booming in but I want to be sure.
I will be in and out remodelling the bathroom - perhaps I can run my coax into the bathroom window and set up in there :).
It turns out I still have power issues on 20M so I'll likely spend more time on 15M, but will run a stint on 20 off battery and then go to 15/10 (or 40) and charge up.  Alternatively I'm redoing antennas today so I might get lucky and changing it might solve that problem (and help me hear/get out better.  It's mashed into the top of an 80' tree at the moment with all of that water and electrolyte around it :)  DI water I can live with around the antenna (i.e., rain), not "saltwater", i.e. leaves...

Cheers,
Dan

Good point - I assume PSK-63 doesn't count so I'll be starting from scratch in spite of last week's contest!

I'll look for you as well.  Checking out 17M at the moment - still hopping.

Cheers,

Dan,
If this fixes it, the length of your cord doesn't matter.
I have a wall wart somewhere in my shack that's killing me on 30 meters. I have a 500 hZ wide band of qrn that I can visably see as it moves back and forth across my waterfall.
Maybe I'll get around to solving that situation someday. It isnt really something I can hear and it isnt a problem on cw. It just obliterates any trace it crosses on its journey back and forth.
I'm looking for you on 5 bands this weekend, and don't forget to check your log against the WOTMC for May. This is a good weekend to do the entire phrase.

I bought a 100' extension cord (overkill but no clue which of these plugs in this 90 year old house are on the same line) and plugged it into another room. Now when I plug in the computer it doesn't generate noise on 20M (although 20M is VERY noisy at the moment - I'm not doing it to myself).

Dan,

I'll probably be on 20m for the duration.  At some point I'll have to squeeze in a lawnmowing exercise but otherwise I'm good to go.

See Milt... even us Yankees mow our grass. HI HI.

See you guys at the end of the week!
GL!

Good point - I assume PSK-63 doesn't count so I'll be starting from scratch in spite of last week's contest!

I'll look for you as well.  Checking out 17M at the moment - still hopping.

Cheers,
Dan

Dan,
If this fixes it, the length of your cord doesn't matter.

Re: just realized I was qrmming myself

most definitely - going to get a long extension cord and see if using power from another room (that room only has ONE outlet) will help the noise - one charge will not get me through TDW...

Joe, let me know when you'll be on today and we can work up high where there is less noise, or even 17 (or 12! I need more on 12!).

Cheers,
Dan

OOOH - soo many things wrong - how did I make 5 qso to EU?  I also had AGC AND DNR on, plus the noise from my computer being plugged in.  Band is so much louder now (signals)

I get a lot of background noise when my computer is plugged in - the wart doesn't do it but when I plug in the computer I create a lot of background hash on 20M.

Back on 20M trying again with the computer on battery.
