WOTMC Changes and...
Charlie Trice, K8IJ <ctrice@...>
Greetings all,
I'm writing to tell you of some upcoming changes to the Words Of The Month Challenge (WOTMC) series of Club Membership Endorsements. Effective 1 May 2012, Milt, N6MG, will take over as WOTMC Reviewer. Milt takes over from Karen, W4KRN, who has served in the Reviewer capacity since the job's inception. Karen gets my sincere thanks for a job well done and will continue with her other volunteer positions with the Club. So - effective 1 May all applications for the WOTMC Endorsement should be submitted to N6MG. But there is more news: the Club's website now has WOTMC Application Forms that you can fill out online and all the info will be automatically submitted directly to Milt. These forms can be found under Membership Endorsements > Available Endorsements in the Main Menu on the left side of the website. You can also click on the blue links in the WOTMC section of the Available Endorsements page to get to the new Application Forms. When time is available more endorsement Application Forms will be built and made available to you to streamline the Endorsement application process. I solicit your thoughts on this new method of applying for Club Endorsements - if you have any comments kindly send them to me directly at k8ij@... Please remember that IOTA and Ragchewer's Award applications do NOT get sent to me - they go to W1IPS for review and record keeping. And please always put your callsign in any emails to a Club Staff Member - it's difficult to reply to "Bob"... Vy 73, Charlie, K8IJ

Android has one that you have to buy ($.99) - not used to buying apps on Android - try spelling it "greyline" instead of grayline and search in the apple store.

I have noticed a Special Event station, evenings, on 20m (14071-14072
khz) using PSK31. The call is ZY2014WC from Brazil. They are promoting the FIFA World Cup which will be held in Brazil in 2014. I'm thinking that this station will be on for a while. Check out on QRZ.com. Standby fer the pileup! Joe KA1PPV 070# 1482

I'm not very familiar with the vagaries of propagation from KH2, so I may not always have chosen the best band or antenna position for any given contact. But I'm almost always willing to move the antenna or even QSY if you think we could make a contact if I changed something. (This is especially true if we've never had a QSO, so this would count as a LONP point for me!) The only exception to this would be if I were running a well-behaved pileup--I'd feel guilty about dropping out unexpectedly in that case. I still plan to be on the island for about 9 more days, so there are lots of opportunities left. I just can't predict what actual time will be available on any given day due to my work schedule.
