The RTTY clan has a valid complaint from at least a historical perspective.

I have my RTTY awards which are from RTTY contacts. I have my PSK
awards from PSK contacts. My WAS for JT65 is from JT65 contacts.

If the ARRL wants a Digi only DXCC, more power to them, but should not
sully the long time RTTY only awards. There are those of us, including
me, who prefer the RTTY only DXCC.

Re: DIGITAL DXCC

ARRL can barely keep up with what they have.  Adding DXCC-PSK31, DXCC-JT65 and so on would make getting DXCC a waiting game; probably a 3 - 6 month or more wait.

I haven't read through the rtty reflector discussions yet -- just glanced
briefly so far and saw some interesting comments.
  http://lists.contesting.com/pipermail/rtty/2011-August/thread.html

But I think that one of the major issues is that the current "RTTY" DXCC
award is a misnomer since the ARRL has accepted any digital mode (psk31,
jt65, etc) qso for credit towards DXCC-RTTY.   So your RTTY-DXCC award
doesn't necessarily mean you have 100 (or even 1!) RTTY country.

Another issue seemed to be if you make a true RTTY-DXCC, then you need a
PSK31-DXCC, a QPSK63-DXCC, JT65A-DXCC, etc, etc ...  So sounds like they
chose to rename the award to be accurate as opposed to changing the award
itself ...

I have been interested in getting the K3VOA endorsement, and inquired earlier of John, K3NJ. I received the following info from him:

"Hello Tom-

We promised to let you know and to pass along to the 070 group about the VOA-ARC plans to operate K3VOA in the upcoming MD-DC QSO Party.

At this time it looks like two ops here . . . myself and a new VOA member Carl Swanson K6CRS (an import from the left coast). Mr. Vodenik had considered joining us (WB9AUJ) . . . but due to a change in his duty shift he won't be able to join us.

We plan to operate just Sunday, August 14 from early afternoon until the QSO Party's end: http://mdcqsoparty.w3vpr.org/

Please note this is a NEW club sponsoring the event (Anne Arundel).

...,

Cheers and Regards to the gang!

John, K3NJ"

My understanding is that they plan to be on the air from about 1400 on Sunday August 14th. John says that they have all HF bands available to operate as well as 2M, 6M, and 440. I advised him that 20m is most likely to provide him with a steady run of PSK contacts and got his permission to post the notice here.

Hopefully a few of us will be able to find them and make contact for the K3VOA endorsement. If you are one of the lucky ones to see them on the air, you could spot them on the reflector.

MDC QSO Party

I will be working the MDC QSO party this weekend with club call K3CAL. I am hoping to get enough contacts to get the club into the 070 club. Many of the people have never been exposed to PSK so I am hoping to add an op or two for the future.
