SP, ON, EA, SM, S5, SV, YO, LA, LU, PY, W, JA, OE, HB and many other
countries on the Bands.

Notes of interest:

3X - DJ6TF, DJ7UC, DK1BT, DL4WK, DL7UFR, DL7BO and DL7DF will operate
as 3XY7C from Guinea from 30 October (evening local time) through
13 November (noon local time). The group plans to operate on
160-6 metres CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31 (they will also make an
attempt in SSTV) with four transceivers, two or three amplifers
and a wide range of antennas. QSL via DL7DF either direct or
through the DARC bureau. The pilot for the DXpedition will be
Bernd, DF3CB (bernd@...). Logs will be available during the
DXpedition at http://www.qsl.net/dl7df/3x [TNX 425DXN]

C5 - THE GAMBIA. Juha, OH9MM, is going to celebrate his 30th birthday
(November 28th) with a special Multi/Multi operation (Multi/Single
also considered) from Gambia. The main focus is to operate the
contest, but there will also be some activity before and after the
contest (November 20th through December 1st). Activity will be on
CW/SSB/RTTY/PSK31 on 160-6 meters. Operation site will be near
Banjul and the callsign will be C53M. Juha reports that he has now
10 people to go with him (some not hams). However, he still needs
a couple of CW operators to join them. Juha states The Gambia is
very easy to get to and cheap access, at least for Scandinavian
operators (others are also OK!). If interested, contact him at:

on 10-80 metres SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK31 on 5-15 September.

starting around 1200z on September 20th until around 0000z on
September 24th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters SSB, CW, RTTY

LIGHTHOUSE/LIGHTSHIP ACTIVITY...
Michael, VE3WMB (ARLHS # 428), will be activating five lighthouses
on the Island of Grand Manan N.B. during the week of September 1-
6th. Operation will be on or about 14071 kHz as VE3WMB/VE9. PLEASE
NOTE: This will be a 20m PSK31 (QRP) only operation. The list of
lighthouses to be activated are :
Gannet Rock (ARLHS# CAN 192)
Swallowtail (ARLHS # CAN 491)
Southwest Head (ARLHS# CAN 469)
Long Eddy Point (ARLHS# CAN 283)
Long Point (Whitehead Island ARLHS# CAN 644)
Also note that Grand Manan is also an IOTA entity (South New Bruns-
wick Group NA-014), so contacts will also count toward IOTA Awards.
This will be a very casual operation, and the hours may be a bit
sporadic as this is not the primary activity of the trip. Michael
hopes to operate daily from about 11:00-13:00 EST (1500-1700z)
activating a different Lighthouse each day, then perhaps again a
bit later 20:00-21:00 EST (0000-0100z) activating Gannet Rock (He
has a clear view of the light from his cottage). QSL to VE3WMB for

direct [#10 SASE ($0.65 Canadian Stamp for U.S. addresses) or #10

frequency selection from the clusters? I've never used
that feature,
but I remember the discussions.

Frankly I'm not sure about that Steve - it might. But since that
program doesn't incorporate logging, I don't use it and haven't
downloaded the most recent version.

Steve,

Why not post these on the packet cluster? Then I will get them
more quickly and can click him right in using WinWarbler. That's
the one and only PSK program that properly calculates dial
frequency and sets your rig to within 100Hz of the correct
frequency. The only reason it may be off that far is that the
cluster rounds the frequency to the nearest 100 Hz.

I hadn't thought of that, at least for the K8IJ operation. My thought
was that Chas was primarily of interest to the 070 crowd, and the
email reflector seemed to be working well. But you have triggered
some interesting thoughts:

1. Chas is on an IOTA, and may be of interest to stations other
than 070ers.

2. If someone is monitoring the clusters, they will pick up the
posting automatically, instead of having to download email.

3. The note section on a cluster post offers the opportunity to
"advertise" the 070 club, e.g., "NA-069, 070 Club APE". This may
trigger questions or investigations by other stations.

So next time I post one, I'll do it both places.
