I hate to make any more work for anyone, but would it be possible to
post a
summary of who's doing what and where on the 070 web site? I think
that's
been done in the past (or it's been e-mailed to the group). I've made
only a
few 070 FD contacts in the past five years(probably Leslie, WA4EEZ, on
10-meters being the most memorable), but always kept an eye out for a
friendly face on the waterfall.

Anyway, as far as what I'll be doing, I've somehow been conned
again into
doing the digital thing with the DuPage (County) ARC (W9DUP). We have
a web
site at www.w9dup.org (if you're interested). I haven't told them yet
that
I'm only bringing out a QRP rig, so there might be some rebellion. Oh,
well.
Maybe I'll be off the list for next year.

Re: 9 070 Field Day Stations and counting

Eric Dallmann

Well, you seem to be firmly planted on your rocker.  if I contacted KA5B, I didn't contact K1GMD (there's no guarantee that it was you at the controls, and unless KA5B is a member of the 070 club, it doesn't count).  There are several club calls that are 070 members and have/will run FD.  The only one I have personal familiarity with is KC9IMR (Voyagers ARC) which operated FD in 2006.  Those contacts would count for LONP, except that KC9IMR wasn't an 070 club member until after FD - July 4, 2006 (gotta admire the dedication of the club administrators, working on holidays to process applications).

I was going to suggest that 070 members at the helm of non-070 club stations send their own call-sign in addition to the club call if they recognize a fellow member.  Unfortunately, section 6.2 of the FD rules states:

"A transmitter/receiver/transceiver used to contact one or more Field Day stations may not subsequently be used under any other callsign to participate in Field Day. Family stations are exempt provided the subsequent callsign used is issued to and used by a different family member."

So it doesn't look like that option will work either.

The only remedy I can suggest is getting the club a membership.  A lot of FD club regulars will have more than 50 psk contacts, so it's just a matter of applying for membership.  Of course, that brings up other issues like flooding the club with applications, and are the memberships worthwhile (inactive call signs might not be what the powers to be have in mind)?

Anyway, just some thoughts.  I'm not the rules maven, so take everything with a grain of salt.

Eric/K9VIC

Rule clarification

Unless I am off my rocker (which is totally feasible) Contacts with FD stations may/may not count towards LONP. For instance, callsign KA5B will be on the air from Eastern NM and I will be at the controls most of the time. But since KA5B club call is not a member it does not count, even though I am at the controls. Right?

Being that the bulk of the summer chores are finally done, and being that I put this weekend on the calendar
for the family secretary, and being that there are no little league games to coach that weekend, KX8C operating
class 1D from OH grid EN91 member 636 will be OTA. And I'm hoping to snag a few 070 numbers
after a dismal TDW performance, where I contacted exactly 0 stations. I've been watering the garden hoping
that will scare away the thunderstorms. Hoping to see at least 20 new 070 members on the waterfall ...

Ok the page is up and running on my website located at:

http://www.bergenscanner.com/070fieldday.shtml

This is only for 070 members, I don' t have it linked anywhere else on my website yet!! It's nothing pretty yet but if this is going to be a yearly thing I'll fill it out!!

Anyway, as far as what I'll be doing, I've somehow been conned again
into
doing the digital thing with the DuPage (County) ARC (W9DUP). We have
a web
site at www.w9dup.org (if you're interested). I haven't told them yet
that
I'm only bringing out a QRP rig, so there might be some rebellion. Oh,
well.
Maybe I'll be off the list for next year.
