CT pskers?

Daniel Severance

Hi,
Just curious how many in the club are in CT - especially around New Haven, CT?  I just finished a day long (promising) job interview and may be landing back in New Haven (was here before but wasn't a ham back then)...
Any DX or contest groups around here?
Cheers and 73,
Dan N6ERD (I see N1ERD and NE1RD are taken :b).

These special prefixes are optional; VA2FUN is allowed to use XL2FUN if he wants to, but he can also continue to use VA2FUN. The majority of Canadian amateurs don't make use of these special prefixes, so the odds are that VA2FUN is still signing as VA2FUN.
This particular set of prefixes, by the way, is in commemmoration of the 50th anniversary of the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Maybe (if I am still around by then or can make the trip back) I'll go to Catalina Island for my APE this year which should help (probably not you Laurie - you'll have it by then) others with another IOTA! Perhaps others will do their APEs at various IOTAs...

Tnx Jay,

Didn't set me back too much. Picked up 2 new AF IOTAs yesterday, so am
at 15 since 16-Mar, so the remaining 5 wont be that difficult. Perhaps,
instead of chasing DX, I should work a VK and a ZL for another 2 ;-)

I would expect the calendar year to start on 1-Jan.

I was about to prepare my submission and discovered a large number of my
IOTA contacts fall into that grey area between 1-Jan and 16-Mar.

Which is the correct start date, 1-Jan-2009 or 16-Mar-2009?

I didn't see your post until late-closing in on 9PM PDT. Life keeps interfering with my radio fun...

But did manage to get the radio on and STILL saw lots of sigs. Saw Brad K7PWL chatting with an FO/Tahiti and followed him, then saw a VE7 station ragchewing with a ZL station. ZL got house visitors so had to QRT before I could call, but as you say, 20M was looking pretty good.

I doln't think it matters if you're portable or not because on phone Iwould say KC2GIK MOBILE or PORTABLE. I think it's the easy way to signify you're not at the home QTH. If you operate from Floarida and that's not your hom QTH then you should add the "/4" even if you' transmit from a house/ I'm operating at the Stony Point Lighthouse this summer using a special event callsign N2S bu t if I didn't use a special 1X1 I would probablly use KC2GIK/LH. There's a club out on Long Island that operates from the Fire Island Lighthouse sometimes and they id as W2SGB/LH.
