Re: Sick of Rude RTTY Ops myself

I'm operating in the CQ WPX RTTY contest. I can tell you that with dozens of
strong RTTY stations all jammed together it is very difficult to discern a
PSK31 signal amidst the mayhem. A lone PSK31 signal looks like the other
half of a RTTY signal and I would venture to say that most of the QRM
suffered by PSK31 operators by RTTY contest stations is unintentional.

I have already written to the CQ RTTY Contest manager both last year and today.  I would suggest polite letters to him at his inbox

Someday, maybe, PSK will have a world wide contest sponsored by either

IARU/ARRL or CQ Magazine. Imagine if you will, a CQ WW PSK WPX

contest. And, it would have to count in the radiosport world rankings,

forcing top contesters all over the world to work the contest. Until

then, we have to live with the world wide contests in RTTY and CW.

Seems like the SAME  debate goes on during SSB contests except the
non-contesters are complaining.  Best thing to do is find something

else and skip operating for the weekend ... or join in with the

RTTYers and give them some grief ....

I agree, I work Monday thru Friday and the weekends are for
radio/PSKing. We need more organized contests or more enforcement of

the "gentleman's agreement" of the band plans.  Is PSK not the fastest

growing mode of operation WW? The RTTY opers have gotten out of control.

Well I have tracked RTTY signals all the way from 3.550 to 3.600
tonight. Cant we fit about 5 to 6 PSK31 signals in the same amount of
space as RTTY? These guys are spread out all over the band. Plus
trying to notch and shift out 3 plus 20+ DB RTTY signals is
impossible.

Guess its a wash tonight to be on the radio unless I do some SSB
Phone.

I've never done RTTY so I'm testing on 7036.70 if anyones interested.
This would be and you would be my first RTTY contact. I feel if you
can't beat them then join them.

Hi Mark,

Thanks. I have my Buddipole set up for 15 meters. I used it today to work
Utah and Hawaii but still need to see if that will help with closer
stations.

If you are not busy tomorrow (Sunday) around 3 PM, we could try it then or
when it is good for you. I'm retired so most of my day is free.

I need a PSK-31 contact with WV to finish my WAS digi (prefer PSK-31!) - I don't see an easy way to check what states members belong to - is there a list somewhere?
