Edward R Breneiser <breneiser@...>

Hello all,

I've decided to activate W3PBC for the January PBMME. If you work W3PBC,
please send a SASE direct to WA3WSJ. This is just a gorgeous qsl card
and I only have a limited quantity left. When they are gone - that's it
for this card! If you want a look at this just beautiful card, click on
the link below. Hope to see you on my waterfall and in my headphones
this weekend as I operate from the Mohican Outdoor Center in the
Delaware Water Gap, NJ and on the AT Saturday.

First, thinking you ment 20m band because the contest didn't include 30m.
ON multiplier should have had a  !  next to it in the mutliplier window. If you removed that before hitting enter the program would look at it as beening VE3.
If tne multi of ON has no   !   nest to it, go in the editor and add it and let the program to recalulate and see if it changes the score. maybe make a copy of your file before editing so ya can always go back to what ya started with.
Do you have the lastest verion? I do and it worked just fine.

contacts that I made.

Looks like 121 contacts and a score of 4427! Not bad for a
part-timer this year.

Unless you have some dupes that claimed score should be correct.

I also used GenLog for scoring, and run into a small problem:
I first logged CG3NOO (Ontario) on 80m; GenLog noticed Canadian
Priovice, and marked as ON; then I worked Belgium station on 30m, and
GenLog again marked SPC as ON.. and did not allocated Multi for this one.

Also GenLog did not add 1 point for first US and Canadian S/P worked.

New Stealth Antenna

spdomingue@...

Wonder if this would work on PSK

Source: IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science Proceedings of the 1998 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science Jun 1-4 1998 1998 Raleigh, NC,USA Sponsored by: IEEE IEEE Piscataway NJ USA p 277 Paper: 6P36 ISSN: 0730-9244 CODEN: 85PSAO

Abstract: We have received a Phase 1 SBIR contract from the U.S. Navy to develop a plasma stealth antenna. The concept is to use plasma discharge tubes as antenna elements. When the tubes are energized, they become conductors and can transmit and receive radio signals. When they are de-energized, they revert to nonconducting elements (in present tests, glass tubes), and do not reflect probing radio signals. The reflection problem is most acute for probing signals near the resonant frequency of the antenna, which produces a large reflection cross section. A second feature of the plasma antenna, is that it can be reconfigured during operation, by selectively energizing only some of the elements. It can therefore be `steered' electronically. This cannot be done with metal conductor antennas. A third feature of the plasma antenna, is that it can be turned off rapidly, reducing ringing on pulse transmission. Preliminary tests before receiving the SBIR successfully demonstrated both the operation of the antenna in transmission and reception, and the stealth features on a Navy test range in San Diego. The tubes used in that demonstration were modified neon sign discharge tubes filled with helium, neon, argon, and a neon-argon mixture. More detailed experiments are under way to explore such topics as optimizing the system with respect to antenna-feeder coupling, radiation-pattern peaking, and signal-to-noise ratio. I am very close to, or already past, the 100 member contact level for LONP. I see in the rules that QSL cards need not be submitted - but am I supposed to have already received them to prove confirmations?

A number of members do not trade "hard" cards and I do not know how I would "prove" to a remote checker that I had LOTW confirmations.

In any case - are contacts "in the log" enough to apply? Please help clear up my confusion.
