I've had fun with my FT817 with a WolphiLink to my Galaxy Android phone using a magloop antenna on a couple of expeditions in the past.  It's mostly trading macros due to the small keyboard and fat fingers.

I'm now using an 857 with laptop and SignaLink USB to a inverted vee dipole from a 33 ft camo pole mast or just hung from trees.  Any portable op is a good op.

Hey Dick,
Yes, you were a champ to hang in there for me, thank you so much.
Unfortunately KG6MZR and I are all iOS here.  That sounds like a cool idea on the Android side of things.
Thanks again,
Eric

Hi Eric,

If you are an Android user there is an app called DroidPSK that runs on any Android device.  It was done by Wolphi LLC  (www.wolphi.com).  He also has an interface that goes between the droid device and the radio.  I purchased on for my FT817 and have tested, but never used in the field.  It was nice to work you during our trip.
