Remember Amazon Dash? The little buttons that you would post next to your appliances? Push the "Tide" button next to your washer and it reorders laundry detergent. Push the Ziploc button in the closet and you re-order plastic bags. Push the Quaker Oats button in the pantry and you get more oatmeal.

Amazon doesn't offer these any more (though existing ones will still work). But IoT is real, though sometimes (IMO) silly.

It wouldn't take much logic to add a weight sensor to a Dash button, embed it in the dispenser's roller, and have it place the order automatically when you get below a certain level (not only when it's empty).  If you calibrate your usage, the replacement would arrive (two-day delivery using Prime) right when you run out.

The real trick is getting the delivery guy to actually install it for you! But Amazon has a program called Key by Amazon In-House Delivery that gets you close.
