Never gave it a lot of thought, but there is a bit of difference between the two.  Was on 40m a bit ago and decided to drop to 20m while still on vertical.  20m seemed dead until I switched over to the yagi at 40 ft. and “voila !” about 4 stations popped out of the noise.   BTW the vertical is ground mounted if that make a difference and the vertical is resonant on 20m as well as other band.

Guess there is a difference, huh ?
