A half wave dipole at a ¼ wave  is better

radiation pattern is in the direction of where the low end is mounted

John, et al:

I love this idea for antenna, I'm gonna get one up once the rain stops.

Can someone pull out some extra class antenna theory and explain how this works?  Can you also use small words?  =p

Specifically: what is the radiation pattern?  How does the gain compare to a proper half wave dipole?

Thanks guys!

80/160 m antenna

Barry & Byron,
If you follow the link http://www.ct1ffu.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=18 you will see a commercially available version of this antenna.

Yes, coax from the balun to the rig via in my case LDG Kenwood tuner tunes to about 1.2. No counterpoise.

I am trying to picture this.

Is it coax from rig to balun.

Do you have a ground system for counterpoise.

I have lots of wire and can wind a 9:1 quick enuf.

May have time B4 the snow to try something.

I get good results 80/160 with an end fed antenna

9:1 Balun and 30m of wire. you can zig zag if you don't have enough straight line.

Best
