Re: Off Topic - Antennas

I am using a Carolina Windom 160.  I use it on all bands from 6 to 160 meters.  Works with the built in tuner on my TS-590SG on all bands.  170 countries and a pile of 070 Club awards and contests all on one antenna, one feed-line and one radio all on PSK31.  Simple station for a simple operator.  If you don’t have the space, I understand similar performance is available with the Carolina Windom 80 without 160 meters.  Mine is low to the ground but works for me.  Worst band is 30 meters and it really rocks on 40 meters.  I’m afraid it does nothing to improve the poor propagation we are having right now.

Happy Radio!

I second that.  I’ve had a lot of different wires in the air, but I always come back to long doublets as high as I can get them.

You’ll get 30m, 17m and 12m in the bargain.

I would go with a doublet and cut it a little long for 80 meters about 130 feet total. That way you will get all of the ham bands with tuner and single run of wire.
