That is what is known as an "opportunity cost". By definition, resources (usually time and money) are always limited. When we determine how we spend our time an money, not only do we give up the resources, but we also give up the alternatives upon which those resources might have been spent. That is the "opportunity cost".
I have an only granddaughter who lives 900 miles away; I only get to see her once, perhaps twice, per year. Thus, I think giving up radio for the weekend to spend with your granddaughter was an appropriate use of resources... opportunity cost well spent. Plus, keeping your wife happy was a bonus that will pay dividends.
