Keli Marie, my Border Collie came up with the same answer as David!
She went back to sleep and is now dreaming about fractal geometry.

close :) it's 26*26*26 + 26*26 + 26 = 18,278 ...

doing 26x27x27 counts the 1-letters too many times ... e.g. first slot is
"A", second slot is blank, then the third slot doesn't matter, but 26x27x27
gives it 26 possibilities. (note the difference is 18954-18278 = 676 =

Hi Barry,

By my math, 26 X 27 X 27 = 18,954 combinations of 1, 2 and 3 lettered

That's big!

I can only imagine what the PODXS Management Team has in mind about this
new big announcement.

Doing a little math, here are some of my big numbers...

50 States (already in place)
341 countries (bigger)
2,200 state/province/countries (some e-mail list call them radio
countries, and is used in some contests)
3,077 U. S. Counties
9,720 Grid locators (estimated number of on land grids)
33,696 Prefixes (estimated)

So now I am wondering if whatever it is, will it be bigger than any
of these?

Hmmmmm, getting rather curious myself...
